Apple School Manager API - invalid_client error with correct JWT
Hello Apple Developer Community, I'm experiencing an invalid_client error (HTTP 400) when attempting to authenticate with the Apple School Manager API using OAuth2 with JWT bearer assertion (RFC 7523). Despite verifying all configuration values and following Apple's documentation, I continue to receive this error. Error Details Error: invalid_client HTTP Status: 400 Bad Request Endpoint: https://appleid.apple.com/auth/oauth2/v2/token Response: {"error": "invalid_client"} My Configuration All values have been verified to match Apple School Manager exactly: Organization ID: 55155430 Key ID: 8136a1f6-c995-4010-b964-bc8278c107ef Client ID (Service ID): SCHOOLAPI.7c0c10a0-4d8a-4ef8-a2be-eda040b65c59 Private Key: Loads correctly, signs JWT properly (ES256) JWT Configuration I'm generating a JWT with the following structure: Header: { "alg": "ES256", "kid": "8136a1f6-c995-4010-b964-bc8278c107ef", "typ": "JWT" } Payload: { "iss": "55155430", "sub": "SCHOOLAPI.7c0c10a0-4d8a-4ef8-a2be-eda040b65c59", "aud": "https://appleid.apple.com", "iat": [timestamp], "exp": [timestamp + 30 days] } Token Request Method: POST Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded Parameters: grant_type: client_credentials client_assertion_type: urn:ietf:params:oauth:client-assertion-type:jwt-bearer client_assertion: [JWT token] scope: https://api.apple.com/auth/schoolmanager What I've Verified ✅ All configuration values match Apple School Manager exactly ✅ Private key file exists and loads correctly ✅ JWT is generated with correct structure (ES256, proper claims) ✅ Key ID in JWT header matches the Key ID from Apple School Manager ✅ Request format matches OAuth2 RFC 7523 specification ✅ Content-Type header is application/x-www-form-urlencoded ✅ Tried both Client ID and Organization ID as sub claim (both fail with same error) ✅ DNS resolution and API connectivity are working ✅ API account appears active in Apple School Manager interface What I've Tried Using Client ID as sub: Tried using SCHOOLAPI.7c0c10a0-4d8a-4ef8-a2be-eda040b65c59 as the sub claim Using Organization ID as sub: Tried using 55155430 as the sub claim (fallback) With and without scope: Tried both including and excluding the scope parameter Different JWT expiration: Tried various expiration times (30 days, 180 days) Verified Service ID format: Confirmed the Client ID follows the SCHOOLAPI.xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx format Both attempts (Client ID and Organization ID as sub) return the same invalid_client error. Previous Support Interaction I've contacted Apple Developer Support (Case #102783504559). They confirmed: The technical implementation is correct The issue is an account access/permission problem My Apple Account email is not associated with any memberships The Account Holder must add me to the Enterprise team membership However, I'm posting here to see if anyone in the community has: Experienced similar issues and found a solution Additional technical insights about the invalid_client error Suggestions for what else to verify or try Questions Is there a specific format requirement for the sub claim? Should it be the Client ID (Service ID) or Organization ID? I've tried both. Are there any additional claims required in the JWT beyond iss, sub, aud, iat, exp? Could there be a backend issue with the API account even though it appears active in Apple School Manager? Has anyone successfully resolved an invalid_client error that wasn't related to account access? Is there a delay after creating an API account before it becomes fully active for authentication? Technical Details Language: Python (Flask) JWT Library: PyJWT with cryptography library Algorithm: ES256 (ECDSA P-256) OAuth2 Flow: Client Credentials Grant with JWT Bearer Assertion (RFC 7523) Error Log I've generated a detailed error log showing the exact request/response. The key points: HTTP 400 Bad Request Response: {"error":"invalid_client"} Same error occurs with both Client ID and Organization ID as sub Any Help Appreciated If anyone has encountered this issue or has insights into what might be causing it, I'd greatly appreciate your help. I'm happy to provide additional details or try any suggestions. Thank you! Enrollment pending for nearly 1 month
Hello, My Apple Developer Program enrollment has been pending for almost one month. I have already contacted Apple Developer Support via email and also called support, but unfortunately I have not received any response or update so far. On the support page it says responses usually come within 2 days or less, but it has been much longer in my case. Could someone from Apple please help check the status of my enrollment or advise what I should do next? Thank you.

Cannot access my developer account because of 'Too many verification codes have been sent. Enter the last code you received or try again later.'
I have been trying to get into my account for several days now and I have tried everything. First of you cannot get support because you need to be logged in so had to make another account to be able to post this. And even then the support is not working. Send an email a while ago and tried the call option and I have gotten no response from both. I was supposed to launch my app last week and I have just not be able to log into my account. I keep getting the 'Too many verification codes have been sent. Enter the last code you received or try again later.' I didn't even do that, I just tried to log in and had that there. I have waited days and it's still there. I have tried changing the number for which I waited a day and now it's told me to wait another 6 days. This has caused so many problem and the lack of support is unbelievable. Can anyone please help me get into my account or advise on what I can do ASAP. Thanks, Usama

Question about PRORATED_CREDIT / REFUND_PRORATED visibility in transaction history
Hello, I have a question regarding how prorated refunds are reflected when a user upgrades a subscription. From my understanding, when a user upgrades to a higher-tier subscription, the remaining value of the current subscription is refunded as a prorated amount, typically represented as REFUND_PRORATED or PRORATED_CREDIT. However, when reviewing the available transaction history and refund-related data (including the App Store Server API and transaction history endpoints), I cannot find any field or record that clearly indicates: the actual prorated refund amount, or the credit applied when upgrading to another subscription In other words, while the concept of REFUND_PRORATED seems to exist conceptually, I cannot identify where the actual prorated value or credit applied to the upgrade is exposed in the transaction or refund history. My questions are: Is there any way to retrieve the actual prorated refund or credit amount when a user upgrades a subscription? Is this information available through the App Store Server API (e.g., Get Transaction History) or any other API endpoint? If not, is there any recommended method to determine how much of the previous subscription was credited toward the upgraded subscription? Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help.

App rejected by Apple Review due to Google/iCloud sign-in bug on iOS 26.3 - anyone else?
My app was rejected because Apple’s reviewers couldn’t sign in with Google or iCloud on iOS 26.3. The problem is, I can’t reproduce the issue on any iOS 26.x version, including 26.3.1, which I suspect actually fixes whatever was broken in 26.3. I’ve replied to App Review asking for more details and a screen recording, but now I’m stuck waiting 3 days for a response while Apple’s own review system is apparently still running the buggy 26.3 build. Has anyone else been rejected for this recently? And does anyone know if there’s a way to get the iOS 26.3 simulator runtime now that Components only offers 26.3.1? Any tips for speeding up the back-and-forth with App Review in a case like this would also be appreciated.

Duplicate Charges on iOS 26.4 Beta - Refund Request Denied
I am currently running iOS 26.4 Beta and have encountered a critical issue with the in-app purchase system. Due to a system malfunction in this beta version, I was charged multiple times for the same purchase. I have already submitted a formal refund request through the official channels; however, the request was rejected/not processed. Has anyone else experienced similar billing issues on this specific beta build? Any advice on how to escalate this, given that the standard refund process has failed?

Help Rescuing SwiftData Schema with Non-Optional Transformables
I currently have a schema in production (cloudKit and local files) containing non-optional transformable values, e.g. @Attribute(.transformable(by: TestTransformer.self)) var number: TestTransformable = TestTransformable.init(value: 100) Unfortunately, this is preventing any migration from succeeding (documented at length in FB22151570). Briefly summarized, any migration from a Schema containing non-optional transformable values fails between willMigrate and didMigrate with the error "Can't find model for source store". This occurs for all migrations, including lightweight with a migration plan, lightweight without a plan, and custom migrations. Worst of all, this also prevents migration to optional transformable values, or the elimination of the transformable value entirely, leaving us completely stuck. (note: optional transformable values only work when they have a default value set to nil, otherwise even these have issues migrating) We already have features being blocked by this issue, and would like to preserve user-data while restoring our ability to move forwards with database. Are there any known workarounds for using SwiftData (+CloudKit) when schema migration is non-operational?

Family Controls (Distribution) entitlement request stuck on "Submitted" for 2+ weeks — no follow-up number received
Hello, I submitted a Family Controls (Distribution) entitlement request on February 25, 2026 for my prayer/productivity app that uses the Screen Time API to block distracting apps. I also submitted requests for two extensions on March 6, 2026: com.prayfirst.prayFirst.ShieldAction com.prayfirst.prayFirst.ShieldConfiguration All three requests still show "Submitted" status in the Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles portal with no progress. I contacted Apple Developer Support (Case #102839422791), and they mentioned I should have received a "follow-up number" after submission — but I never received one. This entitlement is the only blocker preventing me from building and distributing my app. Could a DTS engineer please assist or escalate this? Team ID: BH752TBX9L Thank you.

Serious Question: Small Business Program?
Hey everyone, I applied for the App Store Small Business Program on February 18th and I still haven't heard anything back, that's almost 20 days now. Is this normal? How long did it take for those of you who got approved? I'm starting to wonder if my application even went through correctly. Would really appreciate hearing your experiences — especially if you applied recently. Did anyone else wait this long? Thanks

App in Review Since Feb 25 – Time-Sensitive Sports App – Seeking Guidance
Hello App Review Team and iOS Developer Community, We submitted our iOS application on February 25, and within a few hours its status changed to “In Review.” Shortly after that, we received a call from the App Review team requesting some clarification. We provided the requested information during the call, and the same request was later posted in App Store Connect as an unresolved issue. We responded to the request within an hour, providing all the necessary details. However, since then we have not received any further updates regarding the review status. Because this application is related to upcoming sports events, the timing is quite critical. Our client, who owns the sports rights, had planned a launch event on March 6, but unfortunately it had to be postponed because the iOS app was not yet available on the App Store. The sports events are scheduled to begin next week, and our client is planning a marketing campaign ahead of the events, which depends on the app being available. We have already: Submitted an Expedited Review request Contacted Apple Support twice via email At the moment we are unsure how to proceed, as we expected the review process to be completed within the typical 24 hour timeframe mentioned in Apple’s documentation. Does anyone know if there is any additional way to contact the App Review team or any steps we can take to help move the review forward? If any Apple staff member is able to look into this, we would be happy to provide the App ID or additional details via a private support channel if needed. Thank you for your support.

RealityKit - Full 3D experience
I have a question I guess more for the Apple team. But why are there no totally 3D experiences for the Vision Pro lineup? I know they have given us tools to implement unity 3D games into iPhone and I guess you can also build it in RealityKit. But why at this moment are 3D games limited to just iPad and iPhone and can't you bring that into Vision Pro? Just to explain. When I say a totally 3D game, I mean games like Gorn. I mean the Vision Pro is definitely powerful enough, but it just feels limited to tabletop games and AR games. Is this something Apple is thinking about implementing?

Apple Developer Program enrollment stuck on "Pending" for a week
Hi, I’m trying to enroll in the Apple Developer Program as an Individual. I attempted the payment several times, but the system says the purchase is already in the system. Under my profile the status shows “Pending”, and the payment has still not been charged from my bank account. It has been about one week since I started the enrollment, and the status hasn’t changed. I also contacted Apple Developer Support, but it has been 4 days and I haven’t received any response yet. Is this normal? Has anyone experienced a similar delay during enrollment? Thanks.

Apps Stuck in “Waiting for Review” for Over a Month – What Can We Do?
Same problem. All our apps (IDs: 6756160582, 6756997290, 6758690019) have been in "Waiting for Review" for more than one month, and we have received no specific response explaining why it is taking so long. We hope the developer team can support us or elaborate on what we can adjust to speed up the review process.

Thanks.
