DeviceActivityReportExtension: NSExtensionPrincipalClass required by App Store but rejected at runtime
I'm experiencing a contradictory validation issue with DeviceActivityReportExtension that creates an impossible situation: The Problem: Without NSExtensionPrincipalClass in Info.plist → App Store Connect rejects upload with: "Missing Info.plist values. No values for NSExtensionMainStoryboard or NSExtensionPrincipalClass found" With NSExtensionPrincipalClass → Local install fails with: "defines either an NSExtensionMainStoryboard or NSExtensionPrincipalClass key, which is not allowed for the extension point com.apple.deviceactivityui.report-extension" Setup: Extension point: com.apple.deviceactivityui.report-extension Using SwiftUI with @main attribute and DeviceActivityReportExtension protocol Xcode 16.2, iOS 17.6 deployment target Code structure: @main struct SpoolReport: DeviceActivityReportExtension { var body: some DeviceActivityReportScene { // Report scenes here } } The extension builds and runs perfectly without NSExtensionPrincipalClass, but cannot be uploaded to App Store Connect. Adding the key allows upload but breaks local installation. Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround or correct Info.plist configuration for DeviceActivityReportExtension? Thank you!

iPadOS 26.1: new issue with traitCollection when changing dark mode
Since iPadOS 26.1 I notice a new annoying bug when changing the dark mode option of the system. The appearance of the UI changes, but no longer for view controllers which are presented as Popover. For these view controllers the method "traitCollectionDidChange()" is still called (though sometimes with a very large delay), but checking the traitCollection property of the view controller in there does no longer return the correct appearance (which is probably why the visual appearance of the popover doesn't change anymore). So if the dark mode was just switched on, traitCollectionDidChange() is called, but the "traitCollection.userInterfaceStyle" property still tells me that the system is in normal mode. More concrete, traitCollection.userInterfaceStyle seems to be set correctly only(!) when opening the popover, and while the popover is open, it is never updated anymore when the dark mode changes. This is also visible in the standard Apps of the iPad, like the Apple Maps App: just tap on the "map" icon at the top right to open the "Map mode" view. While the view is open, change the dark mode. All of the Maps App will change its appearance, with the exception of this "Map mode" view. Does anyone know an easy workaround? Or do I really need to manually change the colors for all popup view controllers whenever the dark mode changes? Using dynamic UIColors won't help, because these rely on the "userInterfaceStyle" property, and this is no longer correct. Bugreport: FB20928471

Unwanted Communication Reporting extension crash
I'm trying to implement Unwanted SMS and Calls reporting in an app I'm doing in my idle time. If I place a UITextField or UITextView inside a ILClassificationUIExtensionViewController, every time I select on such control the extension crashes without any logs. The closet idea I have on why it crashes it has something to do with iOS requesting the dictation feature. I'm using the latest (beta 8 at the time) iOS 16.0 beta on my iPhone 13 pro. Apple Developer Membership Renewal Stuck at 503 Error
Hi everyone, I'm a developer from China, and my Apple Developer Program membership is currently in the renewal period. When I click the renewal button from the banner at the top of the Apple Developer website, the page redirects but consistently shows a 503 Service Unavailable error. This has been happening for several days now. I've already tried: Switching to different devices or Changing network environments Unfortunately, the issue persists in all cases. Has anyone else encountered this same situation? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

SpriteKit framerate drop on iOS 26.3
Hello, I have noticed a performance drop on SpriteKit-based projects running on iOS 26.3. The issue seems very similar to the issue reported on iOS 26.0, and later solved from iOS 26.2 beta 3: https://aninterestingwebsite.com/forums/thread/800952?answerId=870617022#870617022 With 26.3, it seems a regression occured. Below is the same SpriteKit scene used to test framerate on different devices: import SpriteKit import SwiftUI class BareboneScene: SKScene { override func didMove(to view: SKView) { size = view.bounds.size anchorPoint = CGPoint(x: 0.5, y: 0.5) backgroundColor = .darkGray let roundedSquare = SKShapeNode(rectOf: CGSize(width: 150, height: 75), cornerRadius: 12) roundedSquare.fillColor = .systemRed roundedSquare.strokeColor = .black roundedSquare.lineWidth = 3 addChild(roundedSquare) let action = SKAction.rotate(byAngle: .pi, duration: 1) roundedSquare.run(.repeatForever(action)) } } struct BareboneSceneView: View { var body: some View { SpriteView( scene: BareboneScene(), debugOptions: [.showsFPS] ) .ignoresSafeArea() } } #Preview { BareboneSceneView() } Running this very basic spritekit scene on my device and I can not reach an FPS of 60. Instead, it stalls around 40. I see the same in my AppStore published SpriteKit games. As you can see in the discussion of the linked forum topic, the regression has been noticed by others as well. Can you please look into this, and let us know if there is an outstanding action to resolve it already? It's very problematic for published games suddenly dropping to 40FPS on even the most modern iOS devices.

App Shortcuts: Invalid parameter type. AppEntity and AppEnum are the only allowed types...
Hi! So while Date is supported for @Parameter in an App Intent, I just discovered that Xcode will not let me use use it in a parametrized App Shortcut phrase. In my case, I would like to give the option to say "today", tomorrow", or "day after tomorrow" for the date. Am I missing something? Any hints on the best way to approach this?

Does your Canvas in Xcode crash all the time due to AXRemoteElement-BackgroundFetch?
Hi everyone, yesterday I updated my macOS and Xcode to the latest versions and today I have the strangest thing: Canvas is always crashing whenever I click it, in any and all my Projects. The full Simulator works just fine; only the Preview Canvas crashes. All the crash reports say it's because of AXRemoteElement-BackgroundFetch, and ChatGPT says it's not because of my code. These are very simple Projects, just for experimentation. Nothing complex, just native code while I follow examples in a SwiftUI book. Anyone else having this issue? BLE Peripherals streaming speeds are significantly slowed with new hardware (iPhone 17, iPad A16)
Hi, we have developed an application that streams data from two BLE peripherals at a rate of 14.5kbps per peripheral. Until now, our devices streamed in near real time with no lag on all Apple devices with Bluetooth 5.0 or greater. Since the release of the iPhone 17 series and the iPad A16, we have reports from users of the data being streamed at significantly lower rates than expected. Any help here would be greatly appreciated as our customers are being affected by this change.

Core Spotlight Semantic Search - still non-functional for 1+ year after WWDC24?
After more than a year since the announcement, I'm still unable to get this feature working properly and wondering if there are known issues or missing implementation details. Current Setup: Device: iPhone 16 Pro Max iOS: 26 beta 3 Development: Tested on both Xcode 16 and Xcode 26 Implementation: Following the official documentation examples The Problem: Semantic search simply doesn't work. Lexical search functions normally, but enabling semantic search produces identical results to having it disabled. It's as if the feature isn't actually processing. Error Output (Xcode 26): [QPNLU][qid=5] Error Domain=com.apple.SpotlightEmbedding.EmbeddingModelError Code=-8007 "Text embedding generation timeout (timeout=100ms)" [CSUserQuery][qid=5] got a nil / empty embedding data dictionary [CSUserQuery][qid=5] semanticQuery failed to generate, using "(false)" In Xcode 16, there are no error messages at all - the semantic search just silently fails. Missing Resources: The sample application mentioned during the WWDC24 presentation doesn't appear to have been released, which makes it difficult to verify if my implementation is correct. Would really appreciate any guidance or clarification on the current status of this feature. Has anyone in the community successfully implemented this?

App Store Connect “Missing Metadata” Nightmare: The Solution I Spent HOURS Searching For
I just spent way too many hours trying to figure out why my in-app subscription was stuck in “Missing Metadata” in App Store Connect, even though I had filled out everything. If you're here because you're in the same boat, this is the solution Apple doesn't make obvious. The Problem I created an auto-renewable subscription (Kanabloom Premium) and filled in all required fields. The subscription was still marked "Missing Metadata", preventing me from submitting it. The “In-App Purchases” section wasn’t showing up in my App Store version submission, which meant I couldn't even attach the subscription to my app version. I triple-checked the metadata, pricing, tax settings, review screenshot, and even resaved everything, but nothing worked. What I Tried (Before Finding the Fix) Checked that pricing was set up correctly for all countries. Uploaded the required review screenshot for the subscription. Made sure the subscription group existed and was linked properly. Refreshed, logged out/in, and tried different browsers. Read every Stack Overflow, Reddit, and Apple Developer Forum post I could find. Even tried creating a dummy subscription to see if that would reset the system. The Solution: Localizing the Subscription Group Here’s the stupidly hidden requirement that finally fixed it: ✅ Your subscription group itself (not just the subscription) needs a localized display name. App Store Connect requires each subscription group to have at least one localized display name for it to be valid. If this is missing, all subscriptions inside that group will stay stuck in “Missing Metadata” no matter how complete they are. How to Fix It: Go to App Store Connect > Subscriptions > Subscription Group Click on your subscription group (not the individual subscription). Check if there's a localization added under "Group Reference Name." If missing, add a localization (e.g., English) and save. Refresh the page and boom – the subscription will finally be "Ready to Submit." Conclusion Apple really needs to make this requirement clearer. Now that I’ve finally figured it out, hopefully, this post helps someone else avoid losing hours of their life to the same issue. If you're still stuck, double-check that: You’ve set pricing and enabled "Cleared for Sale." You’ve uploaded a review screenshot for the subscription. You’ve signed all App Store agreements and banking/tax documents. Your app's In-App Purchase capability is enabled in Xcode. Let me know if this helped you! I wish I had found a post like this sooner. 😂 This should make for a useful and searchable post in case other devs run into the same headache. Let me know if you want any tweaks before posting! 🚀

Does Xcode 26 Still Support Pull Requests?
Does Xcode 26 still support creating pull requests and/or viewing comments from GitHub pull requests associated with the current branch? This used to be possible, but I cannot get it to work with the current version of Xcode (26.0.1). The "Create Pull Request" menu item takes me to github.com directly, instead of presenting a nice UI menu; hence I'm wondering.

Getting a basic URL Filter to work
I haven’t been able to get this to work at any level! I’m running into multiple issues, any light shed on any of these would be nice: I can’t implement a bloom filter that produces the same output as can be found in the SimpleURLFilter sample project, after following the textual description of it that’s available in the documentation. No clue what my implementation is doing wrong, and because of the nature of hashing, there is no way to know. Specifically: The web is full of implementations of FNV-1a and MurmurHash3, and they all produce different hashes for the same input. Can we get the proper hashes for some sample strings, so we know which is the “correct” one? Similarly, different implementations use different encodings for the strings to hash. Which should we use here? The formulas for numberOfBits and numberOfHashes give Doubles and assign them to Ints. It seems we should do this conversing by rounding them, is this correct? Can we get a sample correct value for the combined hash, so we can verify our implementations against it? Or ignoring all of the above, can we have the actual code instead of a textual description of it? 😓 I managed to get Settings to register my first attempt at this extension in beta 1. Now, in beta 2, any other project (including the sample code) will redirect to Settings, show the Allow/Deny message box, I tap Allow, and then nothing happens. This must be a bug, right? Whenever I try to enable the only extension that Settings accepted (by setting its isEnabled to true), its status goes to .stopped and the error is, of course, .unknown. How do I debug this? While the extension is .stopped, ALL URL LOADS are blocked on the device. Is this to be expected? (shouldFailClosed is set to false) Is there any way to manually reload the bloom filter? My app ships blocklist updates with background push, so it would be wasteful to fetch the filter at a fixed interval. If so, can we opt out of the periodic fetch altogether? I initially believed the API to be near useless because I didn’t know of its “fuzzy matching” capabilities, which I’ve discovered by accident in a forum post. It’d be nice if those were documented somewhere! Thanks!!

Auto-renewable subscriptions stuck in "Waiting for Review" causing StoreKit products unavailable during App Review
Hi Apple Developer Forums, I am experiencing a repeated issue with auto-renewable subscriptions during App Review for my iOS app. The app uses RevenueCat for subscription management. The subscription products exist in App Store Connect and are correctly configured, but they remain in "Waiting for Review". During App Review, the reviewer attempts to access the subscription paywall and receives an error stating that subscriptions are unavailable. This appears to happen because StoreKit cannot fetch the products while they are still waiting for review. This creates a loop: Subscriptions exist in App Store Connect and are in "Waiting for Review" App Review installs the app StoreKit cannot return the subscription products yet RevenueCat returns an "offerings_fetch_failed" error The reviewer sees "subscriptions unavailable" The app is rejected before the subscriptions are approved We have thoroughly verified the configuration: • Subscription group exists • All products are inside the group • Product IDs match exactly between App Store Connect and RevenueCat • RevenueCat is correctly configured with the Apple App Store API key • Offerings and packages are correctly configured in RevenueCat • The app correctly handles missing offerings and displays a fallback message • The latest TestFlight build shows a diagnostic message confirming the issue originates from StoreKit not returning products • The app build itself installs and runs normally This has now happened multiple review cycles and we have verified all configuration options. At this stage the only remaining explanation appears to be the order of the review process. It seems the subscriptions must be approved before StoreKit can return them, but the app is being evaluated before the subscriptions have been processed. Because of this, the reviewer sees the "subscriptions unavailable" message and rejects the app before the subscriptions have been approved. Is there a recommended process for submitting the first app version with auto-renewable subscriptions to avoid this situation? Specifically: • Should the subscriptions be approved before the app review begins? • Or is there a specific way to attach the subscriptions to the version when the "Add" option is not visible on the version page? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated as we have now thoroughly checked all configuration and believe this may be a review workflow issue rather than a configuration problem. Thank you.

App Review Pending for Over 2 Months – Blocking Our Business Launch
Hello Apple Developer Community, I’m seeking advice regarding a prolonged App Store review that is currently impacting our business. Our app was submitted more than two months ago, and the review process has not progressed since then. During this time, we sent two support emails to Apple Developer Support requesting assistance. We did receive one response stating that the app was “in review”, but unfortunately the message did not provide any useful details, timeline, or further guidance, and there has been no additional update since then. This delay is now blocking our business launch, as the mobile application is a critical component of our product release. Without App Store approval, we cannot proceed with launching our service to customers. Summary of the situation: Submission date: More than 2 months ago Current status: Pending Support requests sent: 2 emails to Apple Developer Support Responses received: 1 reply saying the app was “in review,” but no meaningful information Impact: Blocking our planned business launch We understand that review times can vary, but waiting this long without meaningful feedback or communication has become very challenging for our team. If anyone has experienced a similar situation or knows: How to escalate a long-pending review Alternative ways to contact the App Review team Whether there are currently unusual delays in the review process Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and support.

7 Weeks of "Innovation": Waiting for a simple enrollment
Today marks 7 weeks of waiting for my enrollment confirmation. Imagine being one of the world's largest companies, yet people who want to cooperate with you have to wait 7 weeks or more just to get developer status. I am speechless… how much longer can this continue? This is not meant as criticism, but simply a cry from my soul as a developer who just wants to start working

Xcode 26.4 Beta 2 - Missing Capability, Family Controls App & Website Usage
Hi One of the new Family Control API's requires the new "Family Controls App & Website Usage" capability but it appears to be missing in the latest Xcode beta (26.4 B2). MacOS and iOS all running 26.4 Beta 3. Does anyone know if we have to wait for Xcode 26.4 Beta 3 and it's associated SDK's for this one to become available?
