Question about Shield customization limits in ManagedSettingsUI (videos, text length, personalization)
Hi everyone, I’m currently developing a parental control app that uses the Screen Time API (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity). I have a question regarding the customization limits of the Shield UI in ManagedSettingsUI. From the documentation, I understand that we can customize the ShieldConfiguration (background color, blur style, icon, title, subtitle, button labels, etc.). However, I’d like to clarify a few points before finalizing the design: 1. Is it allowed (or technically possible) to display custom media content, such as videos, animations, or interactive elements, inside a custom Shield? 2. Are there limitations on the text length for the title and subtitle fields (e.g. maximum number of characters, multiline support, truncation behavior)? 3. Can the Shield be personalized per user (for example, showing a different title or color scheme based on user preferences or device state)? 4. Are there App Store Review restrictions or UI guidelines that define what a Shield should or should not contain (for instance, whether the Shield can resemble a mini-app experience)? I want to ensure that the implementation fully complies with Apple’s technical and design expectations before submission. Message Filter Extension Impacts
Hello, We are using a Message Filter Extension (ILMessageFilterExtension) to classify SMS/iMessage content (junk vs allow) in our app. After testing on iOS 26.1, we want to confirm whether there are any behavioral, performance, or API-level changes that impact message filtering, such as: Changes in how often the filter extension is invoked Differences in classification accuracy or system overrides New privacy, entitlement, or permission-related restrictions Execution time limits or memory constraints Any changes specific to iMessage vs SMS filtering We did not find any explicit mention of Message Filter Extensions in the iOS 26.1 release notes and would like to confirm whether the existing behavior from previous iOS versions remains unchanged. Has Apple introduced any known or undocumented changes in iOS 26.1 that developers should be aware of when supporting Message Filter Extensions? Sometime I also found unpredictable behaviour on iOS version 18.5 or below, like sometime it works but sometimes starts working. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Rosetta 2 - Build 1.0.0.0.1.1744447383
Goal: Manually install an explicit version of Rosetta2 Background: Me and some customers have an old app (intel) which perfectly worked with Rosetta2. In the last week of April most macheines were updated to Mac Os 15.4.1. and the app still starts but certain functionality is bronken. Some fields ind the forms don't write back to the database, some data can't be read from the database. (Most installations will fade out over the next month but it would be great to have the app fully working for data migration.) First try was to step back to 15.4. (Clean Install - Install App - Rosetta installs as expected): no change, app still broken Second try back to 15: (Clean Install - Install App - Rosetta installs as expected): App still broken (!) This is interesting as the app worked for month using Mac Os 15! Third try: Back to MacOS 14 (Clean Install - Install App - Rosetta installs as expected): App is working like nothing happend. (All attempts on same hardware of course.) Reasoning: Rosetta2 was the only software (besides the app itself) installed after clean MacOS installs. Now, my guess is that there were might be a change in Rosetta2 as the app worked on MacOs 15 up the update 15.4.1. was installed. Checking versions (pkgutil --pkg-info com.apple.pkg.RosettaUpdateAuto): Rosetta version MacOS 14: 1.0.0.0.1.1722778371 Rosetta version on MacOS 15.4.1: 1.0.0.0.1.1744447383 To fully verify the cause it would be great to uninstall Rosetta on MacOS15.4.1 machine and explicit install lower version (1.0.0.0.1.1722778371) which must be available somewhere as MacOS14 still gets this version. I know how to uninstall - is there a possibility to manually install an explicit version of Rosetta2?

Associated domain not recognised
I have a public and accessible .well-known/apple-app-site-association file for both my domain.com and subdomain.domain.com with "paths": ["*"] . Both example.com and blog.example.com are added in Associated domains and any link that contains domain.com and domain.com/path normally deep links into my app. I used to have an *.example.com that successfully deep linked all my subdomains into my app but now I had to remove it as some subdomains will need to link to other apps, but some should still link to the same app. I removed * but left blog.example.com as that specific subdomain still needs to deep link into my app. But now blog.example.com is not even being recognized by my app and any link starting with blog.example.com just opens in safari. What am I missing? Why is this happening ?

Drag and Drop multiple files to Finder in macOS SwiftUI Catalyst
I am trying to port my sandboxed macOS app completely over to iOS using a Catalyst target and SwiftUI. There appears to be an issue when trying to drag to the Finder in Catalyst (and in SwiftUI in General). For some reason, the Finder will not accept multiple file drops, only a single file. On my macOS (non-Catalyst AppKit target), I overcame this by dropping multiple files to a UTType of .folder, and the OS accepted the folder. This workaround is not available for iOS because .folder is a macOS-only option. I have a test app to illustrate the issue. Hopefully someone can help. Download Test App

Apps remain blocked after being unselected
Hi everyone, We're using the react-native-device-activity package to implement app blocking via Apple's Screen Time API. The blocking functionality works well: when the user selects apps and taps "Done," those apps get blocked as expected. However, we're facing an issue with unblocking apps that the user later unselects. Even after the user unchecks some apps and taps "Done" again, those previously selected (now unselected) apps remain blocked and still show the shield.

On-Demand Resources with Initial Install Tags Are Frequently Unavailable at First Launch
Hello, Because our app package size is relatively large, part of our resources needs to be delivered through Apple-hosted asset packs. If we use the Background Assets framework to download these Apple-hosted packs, our app would only be able to support devices running iOS 26 or later. To maintain compatibility with a broader range of iOS versions, we chose to use iOS On-Demand Resources instead. However, during actual use, we found that even when these packs are marked with the initial install tag, there is still a fairly high probability (around 40%) that they are not available on the first screen after the app is launched for the first time. When we try to access them through conditionallyBeginAccessingResourcesWithCompletionHandler, the resources are unavailable, which forces us to download them again. During testing, we added event tracking and found that out of 22 users who downloaded the app, 9 had to re-download these resource packs on first launch. Each of these packs marked with the initial install tag is about 300 MB in size. We have also made sure to follow the NSBundleResourceRequest limitation that no more than 2000 × 1000 × 1000 bytes of resources should be accessed at the same time. We would like to understand why these packs, even though they are marked as initial install, still have such a high probability (around 40%) of being unavailable on the first screen at first launch.

Brazil Digital ECA Eligibility after the 26.4 Release
Hi, Regarding the Brazil Digital ECA (DECA) requirements, which became effective on March 17, 2026. Following the guidance for regulated regions, we have been testing the eligibility check with the iOS 26.4 release. We previously confirmed that isEligibleForAgeFeatures was returning true for users in the Brazil region, which allowed us to verify our age-gating implementation. A few questions follow on this eligibility check: We have observed in manual testing that specific devices which returned true as recently as March 23rd are now returning false today, despite no changes to the OS build or account settings. Does this indicate a change in the server-side eligibility heuristics? Why would isEligibleForAgeFeatures stop returning true for a region where the law is now in force? Has the guidance on how to evaluate these properties for Brazil changed with the transition to the stable 26.4 release? Thank you!

Similar Issue to FB13556935: On iOS 26.3.1, deviceactivityd produces zero log output and never wakes a DeviceActivityMonitor extension at the scheduled time, even when the schedule is successfully registered. The extension's intervalDidStart(for:) method is never called. Steps to Reproduce: Create an app with a DeviceActivityMonitor extension subclass Add the com.apple.developer.family-controls entitlement to both the main app and extension targets Add a shared App Group entitlement to both targets In the main app, call: let center = DeviceActivityCenter() center.stopMonitoring([.myActivity]) let schedule = DeviceActivitySchedule( intervalStart: DateComponents(hour: 17, minute: 30), intervalEnd: DateComponents(hour: 17, minute: 45), repeats: true ) try center.startMonitoring(.myActivity, during: schedule) Verify registration succeeds: DeviceActivityCenter().activities.contains(.myActivity) returns true Background the app completely and wait for the intervalStart time (5:30 PM in this example) Expected Result: intervalDidStart(for:) is called in the extension process at 5:30 PM. ManagedSettings shields are applied without any user interaction. Actual Result: intervalDidStart(for:) is never called. No extension process is launched. Filtering Console.app for deviceactivityd on the device returns 0 messages — the daemon produces no logs whatsoever despite an active registered schedule. Shields are never applied. Effectively distinguish API not available and real error cases
Given that we can't use isEligibleForAgeFeatures property on macOS, the documentation states that In macOS, isEligibleForAgeFeatures returns false because the system doesn’t require Age Assurance for the person or device. However, you can still call requestAgeRange in macOS to get the declared age range. But in unsuitable region the requestAgeRange request always returns DeclaredAgeRange.AgeRangeService.Error.notAvailable which is vague, as it might stand for API being unavailable just as well as "You receive this error when the system prompts a person and they decide not to share their age range with your app. ", as per documentation. Unfortunately, this error fires immediately instead of showing any kind of prompt for user, so the description is definitely wrong (or incomplete) in here. Possible solutions: expand Error cases to separate not available API and not available response expand isEligibleForAgeFeatures to properly support macOS Moreover, unlike iOS, there is still no usable tool or algorithm to test given feature for macOS (mock region, mock age, mock source of approval, revoke declared range, etc). Now I get a review with rejection, stating that I don't have age verification mechanisms present in my app. Also I found out that after filling the App Information regarding Age Ratings it spreads to all fresh releases, so even though my newest macOS release doesn't contain age verification mechanisms yet, it should, as iOS release has got this functionality up and running already and I had to check this when filling Age Ratings questionnaire. Now I'm stuck between removing this capability from App Information, so the macOS release can pass and stalling macOS releases until there is a proper usable API to implement Declared Age Range verification properly (at least the same way as on iOS). How should I properly develop and test this feature for macOS before releasing it publicly?

Can Screen Time API block an app without blocking its notifications?
Hi, I’m building an iOS app called SocialLite using Apple’s Screen Time APIs, primarily FamilyControls and ManagedSettings. My goal is to block access to the Instagram app itself, while still allowing the user to receive and see Instagram notifications. Right now, when I apply the shield/block using the Screen Time API, the Instagram app is blocked as expected, but its notifications also appear to be blocked/suppressed at the same time. What I’m trying to achieve: Block the Instagram app from being opened Still allow Instagram notifications to come through normally Current behavior: The app is blocked Notifications are also blocked or no longer visible My question: Is there any supported way with Apple’s Screen Time API / ManagedSettings to shield or block an app while still allowing that app’s notifications? Or are app access and notifications tied together by design when a shield is applied? If this behavior is expected, I’d appreciate confirmation from Apple or guidance on whether there is another supported approach. Thanks.

Determining the number of missed calls.
In iOS 18, when a contact with multiple phone numbers called, the system clearly indicated which specific number was used—often by highlighting it in red for missed calls or tagging it as 'recent.' However, in iOS 26, this distinction is missing, and there is no way to determine which of the contact's numbers the call originated from.

My app is configured with the App Clip experiences, and a Clip App card pops up when an NFC tag is scanned—whether the host app is not launched, running in the background, or active in the foreground. Detecting iPhone absence via UWB on macOS
I'm developing a proximity tool on macOS Tahoe 26.2 (M4 MacBook Pro) to detect when my iPhone leaves the immediate vicinity of my macbook. Does NearbyInteraction on macOS support persistent background sessions for detecting peer absence (didInvalidate/timeout), or is CoreBluetooth still required as the keep-alive trigger?

Hi, I’m building an iOS app called SocialLite using Apple’s Screen Time APIs, primarily FamilyControls and ManagedSettings. My goal is to block access to the Instagram app itself, while still allowing the user to receive and see Instagram notifications. Right now, when I apply the shield/block using the Screen Time API, the Instagram app is blocked as expected, but its notifications also appear to be blocked/suppressed at the same time. What I’m trying to achieve: Block the Instagram app from being opened Still allow Instagram notifications to come through normally Current behavior: The app is blocked Notifications are also blocked or no longer visible My question: Is there any supported way with Apple’s Screen Time API / ManagedSettings to shield or block an app while still allowing that app’s notifications? Or are app access and notifications tied together by design when a shield is applied? If this behavior is expected, I’d appreciate confirmation from Apple or guidance on whether there is another supported approach. Thanks.

AlarmKit Sound Fade in Possibility?
I'm trying to fade in the sound used in my alarm app but currently there's no way to achieve this since the alarm sound loops and if i add a fade-in at the beginning of my audio, every time the audio loops the fadein happens.

Play a sound on charger unplugged from background
I see many anti-theft apps already released in the App Store that have a feature to immediately play a loud sound when the charger gets unplugged. I can't find an API to make it work if the app is backgrounded, which is the main point. How can I achieve this?

Determining the number of missed calls.
In iOS 18, when a contact with multiple phone numbers called, the system clearly indicated which specific number was used—often by highlighting it in red for missed calls or tagging it as 'recent.' However, in iOS 26, this distinction is missing, and there is no way to determine which of the contact's numbers the call originated from.
