Apple Pay In-App Provisioning – Apple server failure when adding a card
We are implementing Apple Pay In-App Provisioning in our issuer iOS application and are encountering a HTTP 500 error returned from Apple servers during the provisioning flow. The issue occurs after generating the encrypted payload and attempting to complete the provisioning process. The Apple service responds with 500 Internal Server Error, preventing the card from being added to Wallet. We would appreciate assistance identifying whether this is caused by: • a payload formatting issue, • cryptographic material mismatch, • entitlement / configuration issue, • or a server-side issue. Environment Platform • iOS: 26.3.1 • Device: iPhone 13 mini • Xcode: 26.3.1 Apple Pay configuration • In-App Provisioning entitlement enabled • Issuer app authorized by Apple for provisioning • Payment Network: Mastercard • Token Service Provider (TSP): MDES Testing environment • Production • App distribution method: TestFlight Provisioning Flow Overview Our implementation follows the standard Apple Pay In-App Provisioning flow: 1. User taps Add to Apple Wallet in issuer app. 2. App presents PKAddPaymentPassViewController. 3. App receives: • Apple public certificates • nonce • nonceSignature 4. Issuer backend generates: • encryptedPassData • activationData • ephemeralPublicKey 5. These values are returned to the app. 6. App constructs PKAddPaymentPassRequest. 7. Wallet attempts provisioning. At this point the request fails and Apple servers return HTTP 500. We see this in the system console, with the phone having Wallet debugging profile installed. Checklist – Common Issues Verified Based on the Apple Pay In-App Provisioning demo guidance, we verified the following configuration items. Entitlements • com.apple.developer.payment-pass-provisioning enabled • Apple Pay capability enabled in Xcode • Correct Team ID and bundle configuration App configuration • PKAddPaymentPassViewController used for provisioning • PKAddPaymentPassViewControllerDelegate implemented • generateRequestWithCertificateChain implemented correctly Cryptographic data • encryptedPassData • activationData • ephemeralPublicKey All values are generated by our issuer backend and returned to the app Feedback ID: FB22249031 (In app provisioning error 500)

How to get MPAN (when supported)?
My understanding is that MPAN is provided for any of the payment request types that support the tokenNotificationURL (deferred/recurring). If you omit the tokenNotificationURL from the request do you still get an MPAN (when supported by the banking network)? Or is it only if that property has a value? Is there a different way you are supposed to trigger an MPAN?

Gathering Required Information for Troubleshooting Apple Pay on the Web Merchant Issues
Hi, To ensure the issue is not caused by an error within your app or web service request, please review the Apple Pay Merchant Integration Guide. Additionally, please review the following technotes on Apple Pay: TN3173: Troubleshooting issues with your Apple Pay merchant identifier configuration TN3174: Diagnosing issues with the Apple Pay payment sheet on your website TN3175: Diagnosing issues with displaying the Apple Pay button on your website TN3176: Troubleshooting Apple Pay payment processing issues TN3206: Updating Apple Pay certificates If the resources above don’t help identify the cause of the error, please provide more information about your app or web services to get started. To prevent sending sensitive credentials in plain text, create a report in Feedback Assistant to share the details requested below. Additionally, if the error is something we need to investigate further, the appropriate engineering teams also have access to the same information and can communicate with you directly within Feedback Assistant for more information, as needed. Please follow the instructions below to submit your report. For issues occurring with your native app or web service, perform the following steps: Install the Apple Pay profile on your iOS or watchOS device. If the issue occurs on Mac, continue to Step 2. Reproduce the issue and make a note of the timestamp when the issue occurred, while optionally capturing screenshots or video. Gather a sysdiagnose on the same iOS or watchOS device, or on macOS. Create a Feedback Assistant report with the following information: The serial number of the device. For iOS and watchOS: Open Settings > General > About > Serial Number (tap and hold to copy). For macOS: Open the Apple () menu > About This Mac > Serial Number. The SEID (Secure Element Identifier) of the device, represented as a HEX encoded string. For iOS and watchOS: open Settings > General > About > SEID (tap and hold to copy). For macOS: Open the Apple () menu > About This Mac > System Report > NVMExpress > Serial Number. The sysdiagnose gathered after reproducing the issue. The timestamp of when the issue was reproduced. Screenshots or videos of errors and unexpected behaviors (optional). Important: From the logs gathered above, you should be able to determine the cause of the failure from PassbookUIService, PassKit or PassKitCore, and by filtering for your SEID or merchant domain in the Safari Web Inspector. See Inspecting Safari on macOS to learn more. Submitting your feedback Before you submit to Feedback Assistant, please confirm the requested information above is included in your feedback. Failure to provide the requested information will only delay my investigation into the reported issue within your Apple Pay website. After your submission to Feedback Assistant is complete, please respond in your existing Developer Forums post with the Feedback ID. Once received, I can begin my investigation and determine if this issue is caused by an error within your web implementation, a configuration issue within your developer account, or an underlying system bug. In app verification flow without addPaymentPassViewController
How do we get addPaymentPassViewController response for in app verification without calling that function ? Currently we have working in app provisioning but not in app verification. The apple docs say "The process of generating the cryptographic OTP value is the same as for generating activationData for In-App Provisioning.". How is it the same when in in app provisioning we have this button that returns all necessary info and for in app verification there is no clear way of recieving same info.

Apply Pay or IAP for content
Hi everyone, I am new to Apply Pay, but I have already implemented IAP for subscriptions in my app. My app also has other functionalities, it also acts as a person-to-person marketplace, as users can post events or online courses which can be bought by other users to participate. My question is that I have read Apple's review guidelines but it is still unclear for me if I can use Apple Pay (with for example Stripe) or do I still need to use IAP for this online content. Also non profit organizations also can register which can recieve donations, can I also use Apple Pay for that or do I still need IAP there, because it would be nice if Apple would take 30% of donations.

DPAN, MPAN, Cryptogram and Compliance
Hello everyone, I’m currently in the process of implementing Apple Pay on my company’s e-commerce website under a subscription model with recurring payments. I would appreciate some help in clarifying the following points: Is the applicationPrimaryAccountNumber the DPAN and the merchantTokenIdentifier the MPAN? If not, which fields represent each one or how do I recognise them? Is the onlinePaymentCryptogram used only for processing payments with the DPAN, or is it also involved when using the MPAN? Is the onlinePaymentCryptogram single-use or does it have an expiration time? Or is it reusable with no limits? According to Apple’s data policies, is it recommended for our servers to perform the payment token decryption (debundling), or should this only be handled by the payment gateway processor to stay compliant? Below is the payment request I’m using for testing, along with the decrypted payment token returned for a test card: Payment Request: { "countryCode": "US", "currencyCode": "USD", "merchantCapabilities": ["supports3DS", "supportsDebit", "supportsCredit"], "supportedNetworks": ["visa", "masterCard", "amex", "discover"], "requiredBillingContactFields": ["postalAddress", "name"], "lineItems": [ { "label": "Subtotal", "amount": "9" }, { "label": "Taxes", "amount": "1" } ], "total": { "label": "Demo (Card is not charged)", "amount": "10", "type": "final", "recurringPaymentIntervalUnit": "month" }, "recurringPaymentRequest": { "paymentDescription": "Recurring payment", "regularBilling": { "label": "Demo (Card is not charged)", "amount": "10", "type": "final", "paymentTiming": "recurring", "recurringPaymentIntervalUnit": "month" }, "managementURL": "${window.location.origin}/api/managePaymentMethod" } } Decrypted Payment Token: { "applicationPrimaryAccountNumber": "5204240494898922", "applicationExpirationDate": "280630", "currencyCode": "840", "transactionAmount": 0, "deviceManufacturerIdentifier": "050110030273", "paymentDataType": "3DSecure", "paymentData": { "onlinePaymentCryptogram": "MCt5xR+VnQAAAAM/8mUjAAADFIA=" }, "merchantTokenIdentifier": "DM4MMC1US000000042e438d170774669844e732a41c28e97", "merchantTokenMetadata": { "cardMetadata": { "longDescription": "Test Bank for MasterCard MTF", "cardCountry": "US", "shortDescription": "Test Bank 2", "fpanSuffix": "0049" }, "cardArt": [ { "url": "https://nc-crt-smp-device-asset.apple.com:443/broker/v1/assets/174ce63257704d93b00aff8aa09ec0d5", "name": "cardBackgroundCombined@2x.png", "type": "image/png" } ] } } Thanks in advance for your help and guidance.

HCE Permission and Background Access for Corporate NFC Integration
Hello, We are currently developing an application that uses the Host-based Card Emulation (HCE) entitlement to enable corporate access functionality. With this entitlement, we have successfully established HCE communication and can interact with our access control systems to unlock doors. Our question is related to improving the user experience: We would like this access functionality to work without requiring the app to be in the foreground, as this adds friction for users during entry. Specifically, we would like to know: Is it possible for our app to coexist with Apple Wallet as the default contactless app, so that: Our app handles NFC interactions for corporate access (e.g., opening doors). Apple Wallet remains the default for payments. If that coexistence is not possible, and our app is set as the default contactless app, Will the system still need to launch our app into the foreground to complete a transaction (e.g., to emulate the NFC card)? Or is there a way to trigger HCE responses in the background (e.g., using a background process or service extension)? Any guidance on how to configure the app for optimal background access behavior, while maintaining compatibility with Wallet, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Apple Pay on the Web for Insurance Renewals
Our company sells insurance and we'd like to offer annual renewals via Apple Pay on the Web. Most of the docs seem to point towards using recurringpaymentrequest but this method required an amount value which would only be calculated at renewal time. It appears that Shopify is doing something akin to what we want where they do auto payments so my question is can we do annual payments with unknown renewal prices with Apple Pay for Web ? What we cannot do is show the renewal price like this as it being insurance is almost certain to change. This is our current code which works but won't get past the regulator. const applePayPaymentRequestAnnual = { countryCode: 'GB', currencyCode: 'GBP', supportedNetworks: ['visa', 'masterCard'], merchantCapabilities: ['supports3DS'], requiredBillingContactFields: ['postalAddress', 'email'], requiredShippingContactFields: ['phone'], recurringPaymentRequest: { paymentDescription: 'Annual Insurance Renewal', regularBilling: { label: 'Annual Renewal Premium', amount: price, paymentTiming: "recurring", recurringPaymentIntervalUnit: "year", recurringPaymentStartDate: year + "-" + month + "-" + day + "T00:00:00.000Z", type: 'final' }, managementURL: window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/manage-policy', tokenNotificationURL: window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/apple-pay-notifications' }, lineItems: [{ label: alabel, amount: price, }], total: { label: alabel, amount: price, type: "final" }, }

Apple Pay button not clickable in Safari for some users
Hello, We’re seeing an issue where the Apple Pay button is visible in Safari but not clickable for certain users, while it works normally for others. This happens on our site (https://store-qa2.enphase.com/ ) as well as on other sites for the same affected users. Currently, we display the Apple Pay button based on the following condition: Boolean(window.ApplePaySession) && ApplePaySession.canMakePayments(); For affected users, the button shows up as expected, but it’s not interactive. All users (both affected and unaffected) are on the latest versions of Safari and macOS/iOS. Could someone clarify what additional conditions Safari/Apple Pay requires for the button to be fully functional? And under what circumstances could it be visible but not clickable?

Apple Pay
We are an acquirer/payment provider offering Apple Pay. Our merchants use our hosted checkout to accept payments. After a user pays with Apple Pay on our checkout, the Wallet transaction record shows our checkout domain as the payee. We would like it to display the merchant’s brand/name so users can recognize or contact the merchant. Is there any parameter or configuration that controls what Wallet shows as the payee? For example, can this be set via a specific field/parameter, or is it strictly derived from the Merchant ID’s display name (or other Apple Pay configuration)? What is the correct approach for a PSP/acquirer to have the merchant’s brand shown in Wallet transaction record? Additional detail: The field in question is the merchant/payee name shown in the Apple Wallet receipt—directly under the transaction amount at the top of the receipt, and again beneath the “Total” line.

iOS Subscriptions in Russia – Is Apple In-App Purchase mandatory or can local providers be used?
Hello, We are working on integrating billing into our dating app, targeted at the Russian market. Our main requirement is to support subscriptions with automatic renewal and cancellation. We understand that, according to App Store Review Guideline, all digital subscriptions should use Apple In-App Purchase (IAP). However, we are unsure how this applies in Russia, where some local regulations may limit the use of non-Russian payment processors, and where not all Russian bank cards are accepted by Apple. Our question is: -For iOS apps in Russia, is it strictly required to use Apple IAP for subscriptions? -Are there any approved exceptions allowing integration with local processors such as Robokassa or YooKassa? -How are other developers currently handling subscriptions for the Russian market? We want to ensure full compliance and avoid any risk of rejection or removal. Thank you in advance for any clarification. Best regards, Dan

Using a merchant session from an external website in PKPaymentAuthorizationController?
There's a purchase I make pretty often on a particular site and I'm trying to automate the boring parts with a macOS app. I can pull the merchant session from their ValidateMerchant endpoint. I can see the Apple Pay dialogue appear, then it will disappear with "Payment Not Completed." Is it fundamentally not possible to use someone else's merchant session in your own app? Thanks

Gathering Required Information for Troubleshooting Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification Issues
Hi, You're here because you've had issues with your implementation of In-App Provisioning Extensions for Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification. To prevent sending sensitive credentials in plain text, create a new report in Feedback Assistant to share the details requested below with the appropriate log profiles installed. Gathering Required Information for Troubleshooting Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification Issues While troubleshooting Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification, it is essential that the issuer is able to collect logs on their device and check those logs for error message. This is also essential when reporting issues to Apple. To gather the required data for your own debugging as well as reporting issues, please perform the following steps on the test device: Install the Apple Pay and Wallet profiles on your iOS or watchOS device. If the issue occurs on Mac, continue to Step 2. Reproduce the issue and make a note of the timestamp when the issue occurred, while optionally capturing screenshots or video. Gather a sysdiagnose on the same iOS or watchOS device, or on macOS. Create a Feedback Assistant report with the following information: The bundle IDs App bundle ID Non-UI app extension bundle ID (if applicable) UI app extension bundle ID (if applicable) The serial number of the device. The timestamp (including timezone) of when the issue was reproduced. The type of provisioning failure (e.g., error at Terms & Conditions, error when adding a card, etc.) The issuer/network/country of the provisioned card (e.g., Mastercard – US) Last 4 digits of the FPAN Last 4 digits of the DPAN (if available) Was this test initiated from the Issuer App? (e.g., yes or no) The type of environment (e.g., sandbox or production) Screenshots or videos of errors and unexpected behaviors (optional). Important: From the logs gathered above, you should be able to determine the cause of the failure from PassbookUIService, PassKit or PassKitCore, and by filtering for your SEID or bundle ID of your app or app extensions in the Console app. Submitting your feedback Before you submit to Feedback Assistant, please confirm the requested information above is included in your feedback. Failure to provide the requested information will only delay my investigation into the reported issue within your Apple Pay client. Apple Pay with one domain and several PSP integration
We already have an apple pay integration with a psp.
We have a merchant id with an identity certificate, a processing certificate and merchant domains. We are working to integrate an other psp. This psp have one csr (processing certificate) by customer. All the payment will be processed on the same domain. We have understood that it is not possible to have different processing certificates for a merchant id. So we can not reused our existing merchant id.

On the other hand, it seems that it is not possible to have different merchant ids on the same domain (because of the domain verification). But all payments are processed on the same domain.

Do you think there is a solution ?
Is there a recommended workaround for this scenario?

Issue With Apple Pay Express
We are facing an issue with Apple Pay address details while customers are placing orders on our production site. By default, the following values are being passed during checkout: First Name: ApplePay Last Name: Express Address: ApplePay Street When we manually enter these same details, our validation correctly prevents the order from being placed and displays an appropriate error message. However, on our production site, real customers are still able to successfully place orders with these exact details. Could you please help us understand: How these orders are being allowed to proceed despite the validation? Is this behaviour expected from Apple Pay ? How can we prevent orders from being placed with such placeholder address details? Please let us know if you need any additional information from our side. We have also attached an image showing the address details and the corresponding order number for reference. Thanks in advance for your support.

Our company sells insurance and we'd like to offer annual renewals via Apple Pay on the Web. Most of the docs seem to point towards using recurringpaymentrequest but this method required an amount value which would only be calculated at renewal time. It appears that Shopify is doing something akin to what we want where they do auto payments so my question is can we do annual payments with unknown renewal prices with Apple Pay for Web ? What we cannot do is show the renewal price like this as it being insurance is almost certain to change. This is our current code which works but won't get past the regulator. const applePayPaymentRequestAnnual = { countryCode: 'GB', currencyCode: 'GBP', supportedNetworks: ['visa', 'masterCard'], merchantCapabilities: ['supports3DS'], requiredBillingContactFields: ['postalAddress', 'email'], requiredShippingContactFields: ['phone'], recurringPaymentRequest: { paymentDescription: 'Annual Insurance Renewal', regularBilling: { label: 'Annual Renewal Premium', amount: price, paymentTiming: "recurring", recurringPaymentIntervalUnit: "year", recurringPaymentStartDate: year + "-" + month + "-" + day + "T00:00:00.000Z", type: 'final' }, managementURL: window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/manage-policy', tokenNotificationURL: window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/apple-pay-notifications' }, lineItems: [{ label: alabel, amount: price, }], total: { label: alabel, amount: price, type: "final" }, }

After your submission to Feedback Assistant is complete, please respond in your existing Developer Forums post with the Feedback ID. Once received, I can begin my investigation and determine if this issue is caused by an error within your client, a configuration issue within your developer account, or an underlying system bug. Cheers, Paris X Pinkney |  WWDR | DTS Engineer
