WKWebview of iOS 18 includes Safari browser. When playing videos, some videos show "NotSupportedError: The operation is not supported.", but it is normal on iOS15 devices. I have a question about Safari running in the background on iOS and iPadOS.
I coded two demo websites as follows (both written in NextJS): Website 1: I coded an interval counter that increments every 1 second. Website 2: I used the MediaRecorder API (described in the WebKit documentation: https://webkit.org/blog/11353/mediarecorder-api/). In the ondataavailable function, I periodically send a blob (once every 1 second) to my server. In the backend, I coded a POST API to upload this blob. I noticed that with website 1, the interval doesn't work when I run Safari in the background, even on iOS and iPadOS. However, website 2 works, meaning it still calls my API normally (I tried running Safari in the background for about 1-2 hours and it worked). So, does this mean Apple allows native APIs like MediaRecorder and its callbacks to run in the background?

Details of SFExtensionProfileKey?
Hi, I’m working with the SFExtensionProfileKey in my Safari Web Extension. As I understand it, this key is to get the UUID of the profile currently in use. However, it seems to be missing (no key in userInfo) when the default profile is active. Also, I haven’t found any API to get a profile’s human-readable name or list all available profiles. Could someone clarify: If the value of SFExtensionProfileKey is absent, can I safely assume the default profile is in use? Is there a supported way to get a profile’s display name? Does Safari expose an API for getting all profiles? Thanks in advance for your insights!

Getting started with PHP ..
I am new to PHP. I have developed my own web site with a lot of javascript in simple HTML files. I want to do some extensions with PHP but I can't make a simple web page function. I am sure something simple is wrong. Help! JavaScript to externally automate Webpage operation
I am a newby to JavaScript, suggested to me to use to automate the task of opening of a Web page, selecting three internal buttons in sequence to download the underlying chart data. Frontend Does Not Display Password Validation Error (e.g., “Password Cannot Contain Your Name”)

Allow use of deep links without 'Smart' banner appearing
At present, it is not possible to use deep linking without suffering the Smart banner being injected by Safari on each affected web page. This makes the experience of users choosing to browse an associated website significantly poorer as they have to see a Smart banner at the top of each page. People know there is an app store and an app – they don't need constantly reminding like it is still 2010. Anyone know where a relevant plea can be made to Apple to provide an alternative mechanism here as it damages the ethos of being able to simply use a web browser

Tab Bar Transparency Problem on iOS 26
i have programmed a website and struggle to get it to work on safari ios26. 100vh fixed positioned images do not fill the screen anymore. i could live with that, having two background coloured spaces at the top and at the bottom. but elements that scroll out of this new viewport are fully visible, as you can see on the enclosed screenshots. i have no idea how i could fix this and dont find any answer anywhere on the net?

Why does my website header look different in Safari on macOS compared to Windows browsers?

PAC ( Automatic Proxy Configuration ) Script Not working with Safari MacOS version 15.1
We have written a PAC script that blocklists certain domains and whitelists others. We went to Settings > Network > Wi-Fi (the network we are using), then clicked on Details, and under Proxies, we added the PAC file URL in the Automatic Proxy Configuration section. We tried hosting the PAC file both on localhost and on a separate HTTP server. After saving the settings, we tested several URLs. Allow use of deep links without 'Smart' banner appearing
At present, it is not possible to use deep linking without suffering the Smart banner being injected by Safari on each affected web page. This makes the experience of users choosing to browse an associated website significantly poorer as they have to see a Smart banner at the top of each page. People know there is an app store and an app – they don't need constantly reminding like it is still 2010. Anyone know where a relevant plea can be made to Apple to provide an alternative mechanism here as it damages the ethos of being able to simply use a web browser

Issue Description: We are experiencing persistent problems with Safari push notification tokens expiring or becoming invalid without any notification to our server. This creates several critical issues: Users stop receiving notifications without any indication of failure Our notification delivery system has no way to detect token expiration The expiration appears to happen frequently (seemingly almost daily in some cases) There is no reliable mechanism to re-establish push communication without users manually revisiting the app Technical Impact: Our messaging functionality becomes completely unreliable We must resort to email or SMS as fallback mechanisms, which is not feasible for a real-time communication platform This makes building any reliable messaging application on Safari practically impossible The Broader Context: What makes this situation particularly challenging is that all potential alternative browser APIs that could help address this issue appear to be deliberately disabled or restricted in Safari: Background Service Workers don't function in the background on iOS Safari Background Sync API is not supported WebSockets cannot operate when the app is closed There's no way to programmatically check the validity of push tokens The combination of these limitations creates a situation where developers have no viable technical path to build reliable notification systems for PWAs on Safari. This appears to be a systematic restriction rather than individual API limitations. Requested Information: Is there a recommended approach to detect Safari push token expiration? Are there alternative notification mechanisms for PWA applications on Safari that offer more reliability? Is there documentation on the lifecycle of Safari push tokens that could help us implement proper handling? Are there plans to improve the Web Push API implementation in Safari to address these reliability issues? Could you clarify if these limitations are intentional design decisions or technical constraints that might be addressed in future updates? Business Impact: This issue fundamentally undermines our platform's core functionality. Tab Bar Transparency Problem on iOS 26
i have programmed a website and struggle to get it to work on safari ios26. 100vh fixed positioned images do not fill the screen anymore. i could live with that, having two background coloured spaces at the top and at the bottom. but elements that scroll out of this new viewport are fully visible, as you can see on the enclosed screenshots. i have no idea how i could fix this and dont find any answer anywhere on the net?

Why does my website header look different in Safari on macOS compared to Windows browsers?
Hi Developers, I am working on a small project and I noticed that my website header looks different in Safari on macOS compared to Windows browsers like Chrome and Edge. In Safari, the header text and spacing look slightly shifted (screenshot attached). On Windows browsers, everything looks perfectly aligned. PAC ( Automatic Proxy Configuration ) Script Not working with Safari MacOS version 15.1
We have written a PAC script that blocklists certain domains and whitelists others. We went to Settings > Network > Wi-Fi (the network we are using), then clicked on Details, and under Proxies, we added the PAC file URL in the Automatic Proxy Configuration section. We tried hosting the PAC file both on localhost and on a separate HTTP server. After saving the settings, we tested several URLs. The blocking and allowing behavior works correctly in all browsers except Safari. Below is the PAC script we are using for your reference. The script works as expected in browsers other than Safari. Apple Pay on Web scan-to-pay, the service is unavailable
I integrated Apple Pay on the web following the documentation, and verified that the payment works successfully in the sandbox environment using Safari on iOS and Mac. Later, I launched the Apple Pay payment code on a third-party web page that supports Apple Pay, and scanned the code with the camera of an eligible iOS device. The camera then displayed the Apple Pay button; after tapping it, a brief pop-up message saying ‘Service Unavailable’ appeared, and then it closed automatically. How can I troubleshoot and resolve this issue?
