About the Relay payload in iOS configuration profiles
Are the network relays introduced in 2023 and https://aninterestingwebsite.com/videos/play/wwdc2023/10002/ the same thing as the Private Relay introduced in 2021? https://aninterestingwebsite.com/videos/play/wwdc2021/10096/ We are considering verifying the relay function, but we are not sure whether they are the same function or different functions. https://aninterestingwebsite.com/documentation/devicemanagement/relay?language=objc

Dockkit ADK 1.0 Compatible Nordic SDK
While compiling nRF5340 target of Dockkit ADK 1.0 following the guide of README.md, I selected the latest Nordic SDK, because there is no specified SDK version in the README.md. But it seems that ADK and SDK are not compatible with each others. For example, it calls nrfx_gpiote_channel_alloc() with one argument in PAL\NCS\HAPPlatformExperience.c. But the difinition of this function needs two arguments. Also I found that in some older version of Nordic SDK, this function needs only one argument. So could you please make sure which version of Nordic SDK should developer use?

SwiftData shared across apps?
The stuff I've found by searching has confused me, so hopefully someone can help simplify it for me? I have an app (I use it for logging which books I've given away), and I could either add a bunch of things to the app, or I could have another app (possibly a CLI tool) to generate some reports I'd like.

WidgetKit And Picture rotation
I'm developing a widget with WidgetKit, and I'm having a problem: I need to click on an image, and when I click it triggers a network request, the image automatically rotates clockwise, and when the network ends, the image automatically stops rotating. How to do that? My current idea is to click on the image and await the call to the network request. Should Toggle be used for the control corresponding to the picture? Because Toggle has two states. Then there is how to do image rotation, did not find support API.

Get the region currently used in the macOS App Store
How can I get the region region currently used in the macOS App Store? Preferably via Swift libraries, but any command / function will suffice. The following StoreKit property seems to always return the region for the Apple Account associated with my macOS user. await Storefront.current?.countryCode See the Apple docs. My macOS Apple Account region is US; in the App Store, when I sign into a different Apple Account whose region is GB (UK), Storefront.current?.countryCode continues to return US, not GB (or UK). I correctly see prices in pounds instead of in dollars, British spelling instead of American spelling, apps listed in my purchased tab for the UK (not the US) Apple Account, and, in the Account Settings dialog, the UK Apple Account email address, billing address & Country/Region set to United Kingdom. I didn't get any relevant results from the following command lines: defaults find GB defaults find UK defaults find uk-apple-id@example.com defaults find uk-apple-id The following didn't change after I signed into the UK Apple Account in the App Store: $ defaults read com.apple.AppStoreComponents { ASCLocaleID = "en-US@calendar=gregorian"; } Maybe Storefront.current?.countryCode only specifies the country code for the Storefront that will be used for in-app purchases, instead of for purchasing new apps from the App Store; maybe the former is tied to the Apple Account for the macOS user, instead of to the Apple Account for the App Store. If that's the case, what other mechanism can I use to obtain the country code for the App Store storefront?

SwiftData Many-To-Many Relationship: Failed to fulfill link PendingRelationshipLink
Hi there, I got two models here: Two Models, with Many-To-Many Relationship @Model final class PresetParams: Identifiable { @Attribute(.unique) var id: UUID = UUID() var positionX: Float = 0.0 var positionY: Float = 0.0 var positionZ: Float = 0.0 var volume: Float = 1.0 @Relationship(deleteRule: .nullify, inverse: \Preset.presetAudioParams) var preset = [Preset]() init(position: SIMD3<Float>, volume: Float) { self.positionX = position.x self.positionY = position.y self.positionZ = position.z self.volume = volume self.preset = [] } var position: SIMD3<Float> { get { return SIMD3<Float>(x: positionX, y: positionY, z: positionZ) } set { positionX = newValue.x positionY = newValue.y positionZ = newValue.z } } } @Model final class Preset: Identifiable { @Attribute(.unique) var id: UUID = UUID() var presetName: String var presetDesc: String? var presetAudioParams = [PresetParams]() // Many-To-Many Relationship. init(presetName: String, presetDesc: String? = nil) { self.presetName = presetName self.presetDesc = presetDesc self.presetAudioParams = [] } } To be honest, I don't fully understand how the @Relationship thing works properly in a Many-To-Many relationship situation. Some tutorials suggest that it's required on the "One" side of an One-To-Many Relationship, while the "Many" side doesn't need it. And then there is an ObservableObject called "ModelActors" to manage all ModelActors, ModelContainer, etc. ModelActors, ModelContainer... class ModelActors: ObservableObject { static let shared: ModelActors = ModelActors() let sharedModelContainer: ModelContainer private init() { var schema = Schema([ // ... Preset.self, PresetParams.self, // ... ]) do { sharedModelContainer = try ModelContainer(for: schema, migrationPlan: MigrationPlan.self) } catch { fatalError("Could not create ModelContainer: \(error.localizedDescription)") } } } And there is a migrationPlan: MigrationPlan // MARK: V102 // typealias ... // MARK: V101 typealias Preset = AppSchemaV101.Preset typealias PresetParams = AppSchemaV101.PresetParams // MARK: V100 // typealias ... enum MigrationPlan: SchemaMigrationPlan { static var schemas: [VersionedSchema.Type] { [ AppSchemaV100.self, AppSchemaV101.self, AppSchemaV102.self, ] } static var stages: [MigrationStage] { [AppMigrateV100toV101, AppMigrateV101toV102] } static let AppMigrateV100toV101 = MigrationStage.lightweight(fromVersion: AppSchemaV100.self, toVersion: AppSchemaV101.self) static let AppMigrateV101toV102 = MigrationStage.lightweight(fromVersion: AppSchemaV101.self, toVersion: AppSchemaV102.self) } // MARK: Here is the AppSchemaV101 enum AppSchemaV101: VersionedSchema { static var versionIdentifier: Schema.Version = Schema.Version(1, 0, 1) static var models: [any PersistentModel.Type] { return [ // ... Preset.self, PresetParams.self ] } } Fails on iOS 18.3.x: "Failed to fulfill link PendingRelationshipLink" So I expected the SwiftData subsystem to work correctly with version control. A good news is that on iOS 18.1 it does work. But it fails on iOS 18.3.x with a fatal Error: "SwiftData/SchemaCoreData.swift:581: Fatal error: Failed to fulfill link PendingRelationshipLink(relationshipDescription: (<NSRelationshipDescription: 0x30377fe80>), name preset, isOptional 0, isTransient 0, entity PresetParams, renamingIdentifier preset, validation predicates (), warnings (), versionHashModifier (null)userInfo {}, destination entity Preset, inverseRelationship (null), minCount 0, maxCount 0, isOrdered 0, deleteRule 1, destinationEntityName: "Preset", inverseRelationshipName: Optional("presetAudioParams")), couldn't find inverse relationship 'Preset.presetAudioParams' in model" Fails on iOS 17.5: Another Error I tested it on iOS 17.5 and found another issue: Accessing or mutating the "PresetAudioParams" property causes the SwiftData Macro Codes to crash, affecting both Getter and Setter. It fails with an error: "EXC_BREAKPOINT (code=1, subcode=0x1cc1698ec)" Tweaking the @Relationship marker and ModelContainer settings didn't fix the problem.

Core Data complaining about store being opened without persistent history tracking... but I don't think that it has been
Since running on iOS 14b1, I'm getting this in my log (I have Core Data logging enabled): error: Store opened without NSPersistentHistoryTrackingKey but previously had been opened with NSPersistentHistoryTrackingKey - Forcing into Read Only mode store at 'file:///private/var/mobile/Containers/Shared/AppGroup/415B75A6-92C3-45FE-BE13-7D48D35909AF/StoreFile.sqlite' As far as I can tell, it's impossible to open my store without that key set - it's in the init() of my NSPersistentContainer subclass, before anyone calls it to load stores. Any ideas?

Issue Integrating Apple Pay JS – `merchantSession` Blocke
Hello Apple Devs, We’re currently trying to integrate Apple Pay on the web using Apple Pay JS. We've followed the official documentation closely, but we're running into a blocker during the merchantSession validation phase. We successfully retrieved a merchantSession, which looks like this: json { "displayName": "Our Name", "domainName": "https://pay.ourdomain.co", "epochTimestamp": , "expiresAt": ****************, "merchantIdentifier": "", "merchantSessionIdentifier": ", "nonce": "", "operationalAnalyticsIdentifier": our name "t:", "pspId": "", "retries": 0, "signature": "*****************..." } Issue: Shortly after initiating the session, we receive a cancel event with the following info: ApplePayCancelEvent { type: "cancel", sessionError: { code: "unknown", info: {} } } We're unsure what causes the cancellation. There are no clear error messages or hints in the logs to identify what went wrong. What We’ve Checked: The merchantSession is returned successfully from our backend. The domainName matches our frontend domain (https://pay.durdomain.co). The session hasn’t expired when tested. We're using Apple Pay JS APIs as described in the documentation. Help Needed: What can trigger an ApplePayCancelEvent with an "unknown" error code? Any insight or guidance would be deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Localisation on Apple Watch
Hi everyone! I’m a new developer diving into my first Apple Watch project, and I’m really excited to get started! This app relies heavily on using the most precise location data possible. Could anyone point me to some official documentation or helpful resources on how to achieve high-accuracy location tracking specifically for watchOS? Any tips or best practices would also be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!

ContactAccessButton presents invisible sheet
On a device with approx 800 contacts, the sheet presented when tapping ContactAccessButton with multiple matches briefly appears (.25 seconds) before disappearing, leaving the view below in a dimmed, slightly zoomed out, non-interactive state as if a sheet were being presented. Swiping down dismisses the invisible sheet returns the underlying view to a normal state. Is there a way to avoid this? Silent Push Notification Handling Behavior
I'm observing that when a silent push notification is sent to our app, is is started up in the background for 30 seconds before being suspended until the app is launched by the user. This causes data to persist from the silent push notification to the user app launch. I couldn't find documentation on this behavior for silent push notifications, and was wondering if it's possible to have the app terminate after handling the silent push notification. Is there documentation on the general flow of silent push notifications as well? I'm able to handle the edge cases if the app has to be suspended until user launch, but just want to confirm that this is the expected behavior before I go about handling it this way.

Not receiving App Store Server Notifications for failed transactions
We are currently integrating In-App Purchases for our app and have configured App Store Server Notifications (v2) in the Sandbox environment. During testing, we observed the following issue: When a transaction is cancelled, declined, or pending (e.g., Ask to Buy flows or authorization pending), No App Store Server Notification is sent to our webhook endpoint. We only receive webhook events where the status is "purchased". This becomes a critical problem for us because our backend must accurately track transaction states including failed and pending purchases, especially for wallet top-up use cases. Additionally, we tried mocking failed transactions (via Xcode local environment and turning off In-App Purchases from Developer Settings) to simulate a technical failure scenario. Even in these cases, no webhook notification was received when the purchase failed server-side. Is it expected behavior in Sandbox that only successful transactions ("purchased") trigger webhooks? Are failed or pending transactions suppressed in Sandbox intentionally? Will webhook behavior be different in Production (i.e., will we receive webhook notifications for failures there)? Is there any extra configuration or entitlement needed to fully test failure scenarios via webhooks in Sandbox?

Decrypting Apple Token
I am currently working on decrypting Apple Pay tokens with Laravel PHP, and I have encountered a few uncertainties regarding the decryption process and the usage of AES-GCM. Could you please clarify the following points: Algorithm Confirmation: Am I using the correct algorithm for decrypting the data key? Specifically, I am utilizing AES-256-GCM with the algorithm ID "id-aes256-GCM" (2.16.840.1.101.3.4.1.46), as specified in the documentation. Is this the recommended algorithm for decrypting the Apple Pay token's data key? Authentication Tag: In the decryption process, it seems that an authentication tag is required, but I am not sure where to obtain it from. Could you confirm how the authentication tag is generated or provided during the encryption process? If the tag is part of the token or is transmitted separately, could you clarify where I can retrieve it in order to proceed with the decryption successfully? IV and Other Parameters: I am using an initialization vector (IV) of 16 null bytes (00000000000000000000000000000000) as specified in the documentation. Could you confirm that this is correct and aligns with the expected parameters for the AES-GCM decryption? Are there any other specific parameters or considerations I should be aware of when implementing the decryption of Apple Pay tokens? GCM vs Other Encryption Modes: Can you confirm that AES-GCM is the preferred and required encryption mode, or is there any flexibility to use other modes (e.g., AES-CBC) without compromising security? Your guidance would be greatly appreciated to ensure I am following the correct decryption procedure for Apple Pay tokens. Thank you in advance for your support.

Calling [NSUserDefaults objectForKey:] crashes as it attempts to insert nil object into dictionary
Hi, I work at OneSignal, a third-party SDK, and have the following two crash reports submitted by a client for the same issue. Because the crash originates from our SDK, even if the root cause may be elsewhere, the onus is on our team to try to resolve this crash. Additionally, my information is limited as this is not our own crash report. I'm trying to figure out why this crash happens and how we can address it within our SDK. Crash Reported: Fatal Exception: NSInvalidArgumentException [NSMutableDictionary __addObject:forKey:]: object cannot be nil Context: Our SDK makes a call to [NSUserDefaults(NSUserDefaults) objectForKey:] on the standardUserDefaults and passes in a non-null key. It appears further up the call stack, a null value is being added to a dictionary. I assume this is the innards of how the search list is generated. Additional Information: The client states that it seems to happen only once per user and the scale is not extremely high but it is increasing. They are unsure what happened and when. They don't have much information about the devices except it has happened on iOS 18. SwiftData JSONDataStore with relationships
I am trying to add a custom JSON DataStore and DataStoreConfiguration for SwiftData. Apple kindly provided some sample code in the WWDC24 session, "Create a custom data store with SwiftData", and (once updated for API changes since WWDC) that works fine. However, when I try to add a relationship between two classes, it fails. Has anyone successfully made a JSONDataStore with a relationship? Here's my code; firstly the cleaned up code from the WWDC session: import SwiftData final class JSONStoreConfiguration: DataStoreConfiguration { typealias Store = JSONStore var name: String var schema: Schema? var fileURL: URL init(name: String, schema: Schema? = nil, fileURL: URL) { self.name = name self.schema = schema self.fileURL = fileURL } static func == (lhs: JSONStoreConfiguration, rhs: JSONStoreConfiguration) -> Bool { return lhs.name == rhs.name } func hash(into hasher: inout Hasher) { hasher.combine(name) } } final class JSONStore: DataStore { typealias Configuration = JSONStoreConfiguration typealias Snapshot = DefaultSnapshot var configuration: JSONStoreConfiguration var name: String var schema: Schema var identifier: String init(_ configuration: JSONStoreConfiguration, migrationPlan: (any SchemaMigrationPlan.Type)?) throws { self.configuration = configuration self.name = configuration.name self.schema = configuration.schema! self.identifier = configuration.fileURL.lastPathComponent } func save(_ request: DataStoreSaveChangesRequest<DefaultSnapshot>) throws -> DataStoreSaveChangesResult<DefaultSnapshot> { var remappedIdentifiers = [PersistentIdentifier: PersistentIdentifier]() var serializedData = try read() for snapshot in request.inserted { let permanentIdentifier = try PersistentIdentifier.identifier(for: identifier, entityName: snapshot.persistentIdentifier.entityName, primaryKey: UUID()) let permanentSnapshot = snapshot.copy(persistentIdentifier: permanentIdentifier) serializedData[permanentIdentifier] = permanentSnapshot remappedIdentifiers[snapshot.persistentIdentifier] = permanentIdentifier } for snapshot in request.updated { serializedData[snapshot.persistentIdentifier] = snapshot } for snapshot in request.deleted { serializedData[snapshot.persistentIdentifier] = nil } try write(serializedData) return DataStoreSaveChangesResult<DefaultSnapshot>(for: self.identifier, remappedIdentifiers: remappedIdentifiers) } func fetch<T>(_ request: DataStoreFetchRequest<T>) throws -> DataStoreFetchResult<T, DefaultSnapshot> where T : PersistentModel { if request.descriptor.predicate != nil { throw DataStoreError.preferInMemoryFilter } else if request.descriptor.sortBy.count > 0 { throw DataStoreError.preferInMemorySort } let objs = try read() let snapshots = objs.values.map({ $0 }) return DataStoreFetchResult(descriptor: request.descriptor, fetchedSnapshots: snapshots, relatedSnapshots: objs) } func read() throws -> [PersistentIdentifier : DefaultSnapshot] { if FileManager.default.fileExists(atPath: configuration.fileURL.path(percentEncoded: false)) { let decoder = JSONDecoder() decoder.dateDecodingStrategy = .iso8601 let data = try decoder.decode([DefaultSnapshot].self, from: try Data(contentsOf: configuration.fileURL)) var result = [PersistentIdentifier: DefaultSnapshot]() data.forEach { s in result[s.persistentIdentifier] = s } return result } else { return [:] } } func write(_ data: [PersistentIdentifier : DefaultSnapshot]) throws { let encoder = JSONEncoder() encoder.dateEncodingStrategy = .iso8601 encoder.outputFormatting = [.prettyPrinted, .sortedKeys] let jsonData = try encoder.encode(data.values.map({ $0 })) try jsonData.write(to: configuration.fileURL) } } The data model classes: import SwiftData @Model class Settings { private(set) var version = 1 @Relationship(deleteRule: .cascade) var hack: Hack? = Hack() init() { } } @Model class Hack { var foo = "Foo" var bar = 42 init() { } } Container: lazy var mainContainer: ModelContainer = { do { let url = // URL to file let configuration = JSONStoreConfiguration(name: "Settings", schema: Schema([Settings.self, Hack.self]), fileURL: url) return try ModelContainer(for: Settings.self, Hack.self, configurations: configuration) } catch { fatalError("Container error: \(error.localizedDescription)") } }() Load function, that saves a new Settings JSON file if there isn't an existing one: @MainActor func loadSettings() { let mainContext = mainContainer.mainContext let descriptor = FetchDescriptor<Settings>() let settingsArray = try? mainContext.fetch(descriptor) print("\(settingsArray?.count ?? 0) settings found") if let settingsArray, let settings = settingsArray.last { print("Loaded") } else { let settings = Settings() mainContext.insert(settings) do { try mainContext.save() } catch { print("Error saving settings: \(error)") } } } The save operation creates a JSON file, which while it isn't a format I would choose, is acceptable, though I notice that the "hack" property (the relationship) doesn't have the correct identifier. When I run the app again to load the data, I get an error (that there wasn't room to include in this post). Even if I change Apple's code to not assign a new identifier, so the relationship property and its pointee have the same identifier, it still doesn't load. Am I doing something obviously wrong, or are relationships not supported in custom data stores?

In the US, are we required to use IAP in addition to web payments?
In my understanding, with the latest court ruling in the US, iOS apps may decide to support web-based payments for subscriptions and in-app purchases. However, are we allowed to exclusively support web-based payments and not implement StoreKit at all?
