A regular meeting of the Python Software Foundation ("PSF") Board of Directors was held over Group Conference Call via phone and Internet Relay Chat/Slack beginning at 13:00 UTC, on September 21, 2023. Deb Nicholson took notes/minutes.

The following members of the Board of Directors (10 of 12) were present at the meeting: Jannis Leidel, Deb Nicholson, Dawn Wages, Kushal Das, Tania Allard, Denny Perez, Cheuk Ting Ho, Christopher Neugebauer, Georgi Ker, Kwon-Han Bae.
Phyllis Dobbs (Controller), Ee Durbin (Director of Infrastructure), Laura Graves (Financial Analyst), Chloe Gerhardson (Infrastructure Engineer), Mike Fiedler (PyPI Safety and Security Engineer), Seth Larson (Python Security Developer in Residence), Marisa Camacho (Community Events Coordinator) were also in attendance.

3 Board and Staff Monthly Reports for September 2023
3.1 Deb Nicholson
- Staffing
- Welcome aboard Marisa, our new Community Events Coordinator!
- Nearly ready to make an offer for the Community and Comms role
- We're nearly finished with our process for the CPython Developer in Residence
- Staff retreat is scheduled for November 27th to 30th
- Funding
- We're drafting a response to a Request for Information that could lead to funding
- Circling back on some university partnerships this month
- PyCon US
- We have a new PyCon Chair for the two years after 2024!
- Olivia and I would love board support on volunteer recruitment and CFP promotion
- ED Travel
- I'm attending Monktoberfest early in October
- I'll be keynoting SeaGL in early November
- I'll also be keynoting PyCon Sweden in November

- We signed an open letter urging caution as the various CRA drafts are considered.

- Malware Reporting API payload conversation ongoing, good feedback from community so far
- Malware blog: Inbound Malware Volume Report - The Python Package Index.
- Prepare for and adopt Help Scout for security@
- Remediated most of security findings in warehouse within days of receiving details from auditors, more detailed report to be published in coming weeks

- OpenSSF Day Europe 2023 talk with Cheuk Ting-Ho on “Making Python safer than ever!”
- Met with GitGuardian on scanning PyPI projects for secrets and doing revocation.
- PDM has adopted Truststore, Conda will adopt in 23.9.0, added support for PyPy3.10 to Truststore
- CPython vulnerability data has been ingested into the Open Source Vulnerability database.
- Drafting a quarterly review of accomplishments for Security Developer-in-Residence role.
- Worked on GitHub App for Python Security Response Team to be able to adopt GitHub Security Advisories for coordination.
