Minutes of a Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors

October 28, 2015

A regular meeting of the Python Software Foundation ("PSF") Board of Directors was held over Group Conference Call via phone and Internet Relay Chat beginning at 19:00 UTC, on October 28, 2015. Betsy Waliszewski took notes/minutes.

All votes are reported in the form "Y-N-A" (in favor-Y‚opposed-N‚abstentions-A; e.g. "5-1-2" means "5 in favor, 1 opposed, and 2 abstentions").

1   Attendance

The following members of the Board of Directors (5 of 11) were present at the meeting: Diana Clarke, Lynn Root, Naomi Ceder, Ashwini Oruganti, and Marc-Andre Lemburg. Anna Ossowski, Carol Willing, and Van Lindberg were represented by Ewa Jodlowska as proxy.

Betsy Waliszewski (Secretary, Administration), Kurt Kaiser (Treasurer), and Ewa Jodlowska (Director of Operations) were also in attendance.

2   Minutes of Past Meetings

The 12 October 2015 Board meeting minutes were voted on and approved.

RESOLVED, that the PSF approve the minutes at https://mail.python.org/mailman/private/psf-board/2015-October/033083.html as representing a true and accurate record of the October 12, 2015 meeting.

3   Votes Taken Over Email

No votes were taken from October 12 - October 28, 2015.

4   Votes taken by PSF Work Groups

RESOLVED, that the Python Software Foundation grant $2500 USD for the Afro-Django Initiative.

Approved by the Grants Work Group, 8-0-0 on October 14, 2015

RESOLVED, that the Python Software Foundation sponsor SciPy India taking place December 14-16, 2015 at IIT Bombay, Mumbai, India, in the amount of $2000 USD.

Approved by the Scientific Python Work Group on October 19, 2015

6   PyCaribbean

RESOLVED, that the Python Software Foundation sponsor PyCaribbean on February 20-21, 2016 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in the amount of $3000 USD.

7   Django Girls Kampala

RESOLVED, that the Python Software Foundation sponsor Django Girls Kampala, Uganda taking place on November 21, 2015 in the amount of $415 to cover the cost of food and beverages.

8   Django Girls Taipei #3

RESOLVED, that the Python Software Foundation sponsor Django Girls Taipei #3 happening on December 12, 2015 in the amount of $900 USD.

9   Django Girls Bratislava

RESOLVED, that the Python Software Foundation sponsor Django Girls Bratislava happening on March 13, 2016 in the amount of 720€ ($800 USD).

RESOLVED, that the Python Software Foundation sponsor PythonBrasil 11 happening on November 7-11, 2015 in the amount of $2800 USD.

11   Other Business / Discussions

1. The board deferred the PyCon Cameroon grant request resolution. Action item: Naomi will be asking for input from the Grants WG.

2. The board discussed clarifying the wording on our grants FAQ page regarding what is typically covered and what is not- www.python.org/psf/grants/. Action item: Move discussion to email.

3. Discussion around clarifying the role of the Grants WG regarding which proposals they should take on and which ones go to the board. Action item: Move discussion to email. Recirculate the grants guidelines document.
