How to Use AccessorySetupKit to Automatically Trigger Hardware Pairing Screen in the Background?
Hello everyone, I’m currently developing an iOS app and would like to leverage the AccessorySetupKit framework introduced in iOS 18 to implement pairing functionality with our company's custom hardware product. The specific requirements are as follows: Our hardware supports both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections, and both are enabled. When the hardware device is in proximity to an iPhone, I want the device to be automatically recognized, and a pairing screen similar to the one in AccessorySetupKit should appear. UI freeze during layouting
One of our users reported a very strange bug where our app freezes and eventually crashes on some screen transitions. From different crash logs we could determine that the app freezes up when we call view.layoutIfNeeded() for animating constraint changes. NSPredicateEditorRowTemplate subviews layout
Hello everyone, I’d appreciate if anyone can tell me if there’s a way to actually control visual layout of subviews in a predicate editor row template. I have a predicate editor with custom row template subclasses, all created in code (not in IB) and it all works fine, but the problem are template (sub)views, which are not NSPopUpButton(s). As I select different items of popup buttons, effectively changing editor’s predicate property, those buttons seem to get resized according to some strange own logic, but the general the problem is that size (width) of controls, such are text fields and date pickers, gets unpredictable and they usually shrink, even though there is still a plenty of room in the template row width. Trying to resize any control in a row template by force (setFrame: or setFrameSize:) has no effect. I can show some screenshots and videos of the behaviour, as well as code samples, if necessary, but I’d like to ask first, maybe someone already knows what I’m talking about and provide some insights and solutions. Food Truck Sample animation issue from Table Component
Hi! I'm seeing some weird animation issues building the Food Truck sample application.^1 I'm running from macOS 15.4 and Xcode 16.3. I'm building the Food Truck application for macOS. I'm not focusing on iOS for now. The FoodTruckModel adds new Order values with an animation: // FoodTruckModel.swift withAnimation(.spring(response: 0.4, dampingFraction: 1)) { self.orders.append(orderGenerator.generateOrder(number: orders.count + 1, date: .now, generator: &generator)) } This then animates the OrdersTable when new Order values are added. Here is a small change to OrdersTable: // OrdersTable.swift - @State private var sortOrder = [KeyPathComparator(\Order.status, order: .reverse)] + @State private var sortOrder = [KeyPathComparator(\Order.creationDate, order: .reverse)] Running the app now inserts new Order values at the top. The problem is I seem to be seeing some weird animation issues here. It seems that as soon as the new Order comes in there is some kind of weird glitch where it appears as if part the animation is coming from the side instead of down from the top: What's then more weird is that if I seem to affect the state of the Table in any way then the next Order comes in with perfect animation. Scrolling the Table fixes the animation. Changing the creationData sort order from reverse to forward and back to reverse fixes the animation. Any ideas? Is there something about how the Food Truck product is built that would cause this to happen? Is this an underlying issue in the SwiftUI infra?

ApplePay QR code popup language
Hi Team, when launching an ApplePay session from a 3rd party browser where we get the QR code popup - is it possible to affect the popup's language? We are setting the button's language via locale parameter, but when the QR code pop's up it does not respect this setting (seems like it respects browser language). GPS Track Navigation with MapKit?
I want to create a MKRoute from a list of MKMapPoints or coordinates. But apparently MKRoute can only be generated from a MKDirections request from Apple's servers. The primary use of my app will be activities (eg hiking) in the back country where (1) a network connection likely won't be available and (2) there likely will not be a trail in Apple's map network. For example I want to provide navigation for following a recorded GPS track or my only MKPolyLines. Note that I am required to use MapKit (3rd party map SDKs are not an option for a number of reasons). It feels like a huge missed opportunity if MapKit doesn't allow Routes to be created from a predetermined list of coordinates. Does anyone know of any solutions for this problem either somehow creating a MKRoute from a list of coordinates or a 3rd party library? I've searched but haven't had any luck finding a solution. It seems like something like this must exist so I thought I'd ask.

Intents UI Extension automatically dismisses
I am working on implementing a new Intents UI Extension and have noticed that when it is triggered via the "Hey Siri" voice command, the intent dismisses after a few seconds. However, if it is launched from the Shortcuts app, the intent remains active and does not dismiss automatically. Additionally, I’ve observed that this behavior occurs on specific iOS versions, such as 17.5.1 or 17.7. On other versions, like 17.4.1 or 18.4, the intent persists as expected. Does Siri automatically close the intent based on its own logic? Could the iOS version be influencing this behavior? Given the requirement to make the intent persistent, is there any option or configuration available to achieve this?

Can SwiftUI.Picker.segmented make one or more segments disable in iOS 16?
I'm trying to make one of my segments disable and configure different font color. I'm able to achieve it by using .selectionDisabled(), which is only available in iOS 17 +. Specific ARKit node not showing in AR
After two types of objects correctly inserted as nodes in an augmented reality setting, I replicated exactly the same procedure with a third kind of objects that unfortunately refuse to show up. I checked the flow and it is the same as the other objects as well the content of the LocationAnnotation, but there is surely something that escapes me. Could someone help with some ideas? Severe hangs with LazyHStack inside ScrollView
Hi, I got a problem with severe hangs when I use code like this on tvOS 18.2 If I try to use HStack instead of LazyHStack inside the scrollview then the problem does not occur any more but then the scroll performance is compromised and the vertical scroll is no longer that smooth. Does someone has any experience with this? Is this SwiftUI problem or am I missing something? The URL authorization read and write obtained by UIDocumentPickerViewController
The URL directory obtained by UIDocumentPickerVieweController can be read and written in the directory after calling startAccessingDecurityScopeResource. However, after restarting the app, if the URL saved in the package is called startAccessingDecurityScopeResource again and returns NO, UIDocumentPickerVieweController must be called again to retrieve the URL, and then startAccessingDecurityScopeResource must be called again before continuing the operation. This is too troublesome. Is there a way to continue reading and writing operations in the URL directory after restarting the app?

Can @Query and ModelActor co-exist? How?
Context: The SwiftUI @Query macro has an internal modelContext. The ModelActor also has a modelContext, from which the data should be read/written. Issue: When writing to @Model data fetched with @Query macro using a ModelActor, it will crash in the most not-obvious ways. Also, fetching @Model with ModelActor will result in errors in Swift 6 since @Model aren't sendable. Problem to Solve: - How to write a good amount of data to SwiftData/CoreData without blocking the UI thread? Would the recommendation from the Apple team be that a large amount of data should be read/written with ModelActor and a small amount should be done with the @Query's internal modelContext ?

ARKit Camera Feed Zoom & Macro Support for Close-Range Objects
I am currently developing an AR experience using ARKit with SceneKit and am looking to implement functionality that enables: Zooming into the AR camera feed, ideally leveraging the ultra-wide or telephoto lenses available on supported devices. Macro-style focus capabilities, allowing users to view and interact with virtual content closely aligned with small or nearby real-world objects (within a few centimeters). NSPredicateEditorRowTemplate subviews layout
Hello everyone, I’d appreciate if anyone can tell me if there’s a way to actually control visual layout of subviews in a predicate editor row template. I have a predicate editor with custom row template subclasses, all created in code (not in IB) and it all works fine, but the problem are template (sub)views, which are not NSPopUpButton(s). As I select different items of popup buttons, effectively changing editor’s predicate property, those buttons seem to get resized according to some strange own logic, but the general the problem is that size (width) of controls, such are text fields and date pickers, gets unpredictable and they usually shrink, even though there is still a plenty of room in the template row width. Trying to resize any control in a row template by force (setFrame: or setFrameSize:) has no effect. I can show some screenshots and videos of the behaviour, as well as code samples, if necessary, but I’d like to ask first, maybe someone already knows what I’m talking about and provide some insights and solutions. Food Truck Sample animation issue from Table Component
Hi! I'm seeing some weird animation issues building the Food Truck sample application.^1 I'm running from macOS 15.4 and Xcode 16.3. I'm building the Food Truck application for macOS. I'm not focusing on iOS for now. The FoodTruckModel adds new Order values with an animation: // FoodTruckModel.swift withAnimation(.spring(response: 0.4, dampingFraction: 1)) { self.orders.append(orderGenerator.generateOrder(number: orders.count + 1, date: .now, generator: &generator)) } This then animates the OrdersTable when new Order values are added. Here is a small change to OrdersTable: // OrdersTable.swift - @State private var sortOrder = [KeyPathComparator(\Order.status, order: .reverse)] + @State private var sortOrder = [KeyPathComparator(\Order.creationDate, order: .reverse)] Running the app now inserts new Order values at the top. The problem is I seem to be seeing some weird animation issues here. It seems that as soon as the new Order comes in there is some kind of weird glitch where it appears as if part the animation is coming from the side instead of down from the top: What's then more weird is that if I seem to affect the state of the Table in any way then the next Order comes in with perfect animation. Scrolling the Table fixes the animation. Changing the creationData sort order from reverse to forward and back to reverse fixes the animation. Any ideas? Is there something about how the Food Truck product is built that would cause this to happen? Is this an underlying issue in the SwiftUI infra?

Hi Team, when launching an ApplePay session from a 3rd party browser where we get the QR code popup - is it possible to affect the popup's language? We are setting the button's language via locale parameter, but when the QR code pop's up it does not respect this setting (seems like it respects browser language). GPS Track Navigation with MapKit?
I want to create a MKRoute from a list of MKMapPoints or coordinates. But apparently MKRoute can only be generated from a MKDirections request from Apple's servers. The primary use of my app will be activities (eg hiking) in the back country where (1) a network connection likely won't be available and (2) there likely will not be a trail in Apple's map network. For example I want to provide navigation for following a recorded GPS track or my only MKPolyLines. Note that I am required to use MapKit (3rd party map SDKs are not an option for a number of reasons). It feels like a huge missed opportunity if MapKit doesn't allow Routes to be created from a predetermined list of coordinates. Does anyone know of any solutions for this problem either somehow creating a MKRoute from a list of coordinates or a 3rd party library? I've searched but haven't had any luck finding a solution. It seems like something like this must exist so I thought I'd ask.

Intents UI Extension automatically dismisses
I am working on implementing a new Intents UI Extension and have noticed that when it is triggered via the "Hey Siri" voice command, the intent dismisses after a few seconds. However, if it is launched from the Shortcuts app, the intent remains active and does not dismiss automatically. Additionally, I’ve observed that this behavior occurs on specific iOS versions, such as 17.5.1 or 17.7. On other versions, like 17.4.1 or 18.4, the intent persists as expected. Does Siri automatically close the intent based on its own logic? Could the iOS version be influencing this behavior? Given the requirement to make the intent persistent, is there any option or configuration available to achieve this?

Can SwiftUI.Picker.segmented make one or more segments disable in iOS 16?
I'm trying to make one of my segments disable and configure different font color. I'm able to achieve it by using .selectionDisabled(), which is only available in iOS 17 +. How can a CommandGroup access the .modelContext environment?

Specific ARKit node not showing in AR
After two types of objects correctly inserted as nodes in an augmented reality setting, I replicated exactly the same procedure with a third kind of objects that unfortunately refuse to show up. I checked the flow and it is the same as the other objects as well the content of the LocationAnnotation, but there is surely something that escapes me. Could someone help with some ideas? My first Xcode build ever But EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=2, address=0x16e837f30) keeps happening

How do I create Edit Action Menus in SwiftUI on macOS?
Various TextField and TextView elements of Apple apps have text edit actions for text correction, but also auto completion. How can I create such a menu for a TextField in SwiftUI on macOS? the textCompletion modifier did not result in this menu. Many thanks in advance! Jan

Severe hangs with LazyHStack inside ScrollView
Hi, I got a problem with severe hangs when I use code like this on tvOS 18.2 If I try to use HStack instead of LazyHStack inside the scrollview then the problem does not occur any more but then the scroll performance is compromised and the vertical scroll is no longer that smooth. Does someone has any experience with this? Is this SwiftUI problem or am I missing something? The URL authorization read and write obtained by UIDocumentPickerViewController
The URL directory obtained by UIDocumentPickerVieweController can be read and written in the directory after calling startAccessingDecurityScopeResource. However, after restarting the app, if the URL saved in the package is called startAccessingDecurityScopeResource again and returns NO, UIDocumentPickerVieweController must be called again to retrieve the URL, and then startAccessingDecurityScopeResource must be called again before continuing the operation. This is too troublesome. Is there a way to continue reading and writing operations in the URL directory after restarting the app?

Can @Query and ModelActor co-exist? How?
Context: The SwiftUI @Query macro has an internal modelContext. The ModelActor also has a modelContext, from which the data should be read/written. Issue: When writing to @Model data fetched with @Query macro using a ModelActor, it will crash in the most not-obvious ways. Also, fetching @Model with ModelActor will result in errors in Swift 6 since @Model aren't sendable. Problem to Solve: - How to write a good amount of data to SwiftData/CoreData without blocking the UI thread? Would the recommendation from the Apple team be that a large amount of data should be read/written with ModelActor and a small amount should be done with the @Query's internal modelContext ?

ARKit Camera Feed Zoom & Macro Support for Close-Range Objects
I am currently developing an AR experience using ARKit with SceneKit and am looking to implement functionality that enables: Zooming into the AR camera feed, ideally leveraging the ultra-wide or telephoto lenses available on supported devices. Macro-style focus capabilities, allowing users to view and interact with virtual content closely aligned with small or nearby real-world objects (within a few centimeters). My objective is to ensure that ARKit continues to render the scene accurately while enabling a zoomed-in view or macro-level focus for better detail visibility and alignment.
