Safari Is Unusable
I have had zero luck anywhere else and it’s at this point infuriating. February 23rd of this year I submitted a ticket in Feedback regarding how Safari for me has been broken. I can’t load any website at all, I have cleared cache, data, you name it. I have reset the phone after doing so and as I type this today on a brand new iPhone 17 Pro Max it still doesn’t work. Every single app that prompts a Safari window to sign in also doesn’t work and crashes just as Safari the app does. Sometimes I get a message that pops up that says “Webkit encountered an internal error” before it crashes. I can’t provide a screen recording or screen shots because Safari just crashes. I genuinely don’t know what to do or where to go for an answer and i’ve submitted seven updates to my open Feedback ticket since February 23rd 2025, spanning months from that original date and yet no change or help has came from it. I am clueless on how to even begin to go about fixing it and agitated because it’s been so long, so many other apps effected by this, even on a brand new device Safari still does not work for me. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated I used to have a 15 Pro Max but now on the 17 Pro Max and throughout the entire time i’ve been on the developer beta. Maybe that is the issue i’m unsure because now i’m just on iOS 26 so I don’t know if it’s just stuck like this forever. Again any help would be appreciated. I have not went physically to Apple yet to get this solved it‘s been a last resort, considering my options I might have to clear time to go. I’ve been using Chrome ever since this issue.

Clicking on Quit and Open Safari Extensions Preferences... does nothing
I am trying to build and run a Safari Web Extension from Xcode and I have enabled "Allow unsigned extensions" in Safari settings. However, I see the below pop up: And, if click on the "Quit and Open Safari Extensions Preferences..." button, the project stops running on Xcode and nothing happens. What can be the issue? The extension works and runs fine if I get it from the Mac App Store and this only happens when running from Xcode. I even tried completely uninstalling the mac app store version and still facing the same issue.

declarativeNetRequest redirect action causing page reload/error in Safari 26.0
After updating to Safari 26.0 (on macOS Sequoia or Tahoe), the Declarative Net Request (DNR) API rule with "type": "redirect" no longer works as expected. When the rule is applied, the browser initially shows a banner at the top of the page: "This webpage was reloaded because a problem occurred." After the reload, the page fails to load and displays an error page with the message: "A problem repeatedly occurred with https://extensionworkshop.com/?test=true " This behavior is new in Safari 26.0. The same rule was working correctly in earlier Safari versions (17.x / 18.x).

iOS 18.4 HTTPS connection compatibility issue
We are experiencing a compatibility issue with our hybrid app related to the recent update in iPadOS 18.4, specifically concerning HTTPS connections. What are the key changes introduced in iPadOS 18.4 regarding HTTPS connections? Our app previously managed to bypass the DigitalSignature key usage missing error in the self-signed server certificate within the didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge method, as documented here: https://aninterestingwebsite.com/documentation/webkit/wknavigationdelegate/webview(_:didreceive:completionhandler:) . However, since the update to iPadOS 18.4, this method is no longer being called, resulting in direct failure of HTTPS connections. We are using cordova-ios 7.1. Thanks in advance for your help.

Unable to load CSS fonts from WKURLSchemeHandler in a https website
I am trying to cache fonts natively in a hybrid app, so that CSS hosted in an https website loaded in WKWebView through loadRequest can reference them like this for a performance boost: @font-face { font-family: 'MyFont'; src: url('my-assets://Gordita-bold-subset.woff') format('woff'); font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; } The problem happens when I register a WKURLSchemeHandler for my-assets. The handler never gets called and the Safari Web Insepctor shows this: [blocked] The page at https://www.x.com/ requested insecure content from my-assets://Gordita-bold-subset.woff. This content was blocked and must be served over HTTPS. Interestingly enough, if we try to serve content with <img src="my-assets://test.png" this restriction does not apply. Are there any workarounds other than using the private API WKProcessPool._registerURLSchemeAsSecure?

Can't turn off inline auto predictions in WKWebView on Mac
I have a WKWebView that contains a js text editor, built on top of a content editable div. Currently, inline predictions on Mac break the text editors functionality significantly every time there's a prediction. There's not a way for me to fix this on the js side unless I can know when a prediction is shown. I've tried disabling inline predictions and writing tools with the web view config, but it doesn't work: let config = WKWebViewConfiguration() config.writingToolsBehavior = .none config.allowsInlinePredictions = false let webView = WKWebView(frame: .zero, configuration: config) I've also tried disabling all spellcheck and autocorrect features in the html but that doesn't work either: <div contenteditable="true" spellcheck="false" autocomplete="off" autocorrect="off" autocapitalize="off"></div> Is there anything I can do to turn it off? Or, is it possible to know when the WebView is predicting text?

ssl error iPadOS 18.4 for self-signed certificate
Our app is an enterprise app via MDM. We are experiencing an issue in iPadOS 18.4 when loading an internal HTTPS server via WKWebView in a hybrid iOS app. Our server uses a self-signed certificate but lacks the digitalSignature usage in its Key Usage extension. (Currently we have no chance to change the server's certificate) We override webView:didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge:completionHandler: to trust the certificate: completionHandler(NSURLSessionAuthChallengeUseCredential, credential); This "completionHandler" works in previous 18.3.2 , but not work in 18.4. May I know is there any changes in 18.4 for the https certification? Why this delegate not work? What we can do to ignore this ssl error and get connection? Thanks in advance, look forward for your reply.

Safari nativeMessaging with non-persistent background page
I'm working on a Safari web extension that uses the nativeMessaging facility to communication with native code. When I want to notify the javascript extension from the embedding application, I use SFSafariApplication::dispatchMessage. As per the documentation, this call ... ensures that Safari is launched and that your extension is running before delivering the message. Everything works fine when the background script is running. However, after the background script gets unloaded at some point in time (non persistent background page, default behavior for a manifest V3 extension), the background script is not reloaded by the message from the native app (background script still appears unloaded in the developer menu of Safari, double-checked using a counter stored in browser.storage.local incremented on message reception). In this case, the completion handler of the application gets no error (error == nil) as if the message was correctly delivered. I was able to reproduce this behavior with the sample app delivered for WWDC20 (after upgrading the manifest from v2 to v3 to make it non-persistent). Is it supposed to work ? What I'm doing wrong ?

iOS26 Safari rendering bug even on latest beta 3
I am testing stuff on a website, and it worked well on any mobile browser till iOS18. Now that I am testing iOS26, even with the latest BETA (3) everything works smoothly on any other mobile browser but Safari. Previously I had the bug, which now has been patched, for status-bar, which was flickering too, but popover and page issue seems still there. I have persistent popover and ajax navigation, and both are rendering with bugs and fouc while view/page changes. Example: If I have an element which must stay on its place and its width is 100vw: while page changes it blinks, shrinks, flicker and jumps on rendering, while it simply must stay as is.. Animations and page transitions work smoothly on Chrome mobile (latest iOS 26 beta 3) , while breaking on Safari. I did open a feedback FB18328720, but seems no one caring. WKWebView Fails with NSURLErrorDomain Code=-1005 on iOS 18.4 Simulator
Hello, I'm experiencing an issue where WKWebView consistently fails to load a specific URL on the iOS 18.4 simulator (Xcode 16.3). The error is as follows: Error Domain=NSURLErrorDomain Code=-1005 "The network connection was lost." UserInfo={ _kCFStreamErrorCodeKey=-4, _kCFStreamErrorDomainKey=4, NSUnderlyingError=Error Domain=kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork Code=-1005, NSErrorFailingURLKey=[REDACTED] } Key Observations: This URL fails consistently only on the iOS 18.4 simulator. The same URL loads without issue in iOS 18.3 and 18.2 simulators. The backend is serving a valid HTTPS certificate chain, and the server appears to be presenting it properly. The same application appears to work on a real iPhone running 18.4. Certificate Chain for the Failing URL Leaf: WR3 (Valid: Mar 17, 2025 – Jun 15, 2025) Intermediate 1: GTS Root R1 (Valid: Dec 13, 2023 – Feb 20, 2029) Intermediate 2: GlobalSign Root CA (Valid: Jun 19, 2020 – Jan 28, 2028) Other URLs Work Fine in iOS 18.4 Simulator WKWebView successfully loads the following URLs with similar or more complex certificate chains: https://google.com → WR2, GTS Root R1, GlobalSign Root CA https://amazon.com → DigiCert Global CA G2, DigiCert Global Root G2, VeriSign G5 https://stackoverflow.com → E5, ISRG Root X1 https://shopify.com → GlobalSign Root CA, GTS Root R4, WE1 This suggests the issue may not be with general network or certificate trust but instead something specific about how iOS 18.4 handles this domain or certificate configuration in the simulator. Any insights on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated.

Websockets (WS/WSS) in iOS26
We're having trouble connecting to local area network websockets in Safari in the latest iOS26 Beta 3 (iPhone 14), both secure and unsecure. Code works < iOS26 & macOS, etc. -- Unsecure behaviour: need to call connectWebSocket() twice, establishes connection reliably. Error: WebSocket connection to 'wss://192.168.1.81/api/webSocket' failed: The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “192.168.1.81”, which could put your confidential information at risk. -- let apiEndpoint = window.location.hostname; if (apiEndpoint == null || apiEndpoint == '') { apiEndpoint = "192.168.1.81"; } function connectWebSocket() { if (webSocket && webSocket.readyState == 1) { return; } if (webSocket) { webSocket.close(); } webSocket = new WebSocket( (window.location.protocol === 'https:' ? WKWebView Fails with NSURLErrorDomain Code=-1005 on iOS 18.4 Simulator

Websockets (WS/WSS) in iOS26

Code works < iOS26 & macOS, etc. -- Unsecure behaviour: need to call connectWebSocket() twice, establishes connection reliably. Calling connectWebSocket() once, will sometimes work, sometimes not. -- Secure behaviour: Error in debug console, even though the certificate has been accepted and the page is loaded as https. Error: WebSocket connection to 'wss://192.168.1.81/api/webSocket' failed: The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “192.168.1.81”, which could put your confidential information at risk. -- let apiEndpoint = window.location.hostname; if (apiEndpoint == null || apiEndpoint == '') { apiEndpoint = "192.168.1.81"; } function connectWebSocket() { if (webSocket && webSocket.readyState == 1) { return; } if (webSocket) { webSocket.close(); } webSocket = new WebSocket( (window.location.protocol === 'https:' ? "wss://" : "ws://") + apiEndpoint + "/api/webSocket", ); webSocket.onerror = (error) => { console.log("WebSocket error", error); }; webSocket.onopen = () => { console.log("WebSocket connected"); webSocket.send("volume"); webSocket.send("isPlaying"); }; webSocket.onmessage = (event) => { const msg = event.data; if (!msg) return; if (msg.startsWith("volume")) { const volume = parseInt(msg.replace('volume:','')); const slider = document.getElementById("volumeSlider"); slider.value = volume; slider.style.background = `linear-gradient(to right, #007bff ${volume}%, white ${volume}%)`; } else if (msg.startsWith("isPlaying")) { const url = msg.replace('isPlaying:', ''); let matchedEntry = null; let coverToSelect = null; categories.forEach((category, catIdx) => { category.entries.forEach((entry, entryIdx) => { if (entry.url === url) { matchedEntry = entry; coverToSelect = document.querySelector(`.cover[category-idx="${catIdx}"][entry-idx="${entryIdx}"]`); } }); }); if (matchedEntry && coverToSelect) { selectCover(coverToSelect, true); showNowPlayingBar(matchedEntry); const top = coverToSelect.getBoundingClientRect().top + window.scrollY - 150; window.scrollTo({ top, behavior: 'smooth' }); } } }; webSocket.onclose = () => { console.log("WebSocket closed, retrying..."); setTimeout(connectWebSocket, 1000); }; } document.addEventListener("visibilitychange", () => { if (document.visibilityState === "visible") { connectWebSocket(); } }); connectWebSocket();
