Hi all, I'm developing an application that uses WKWebView to display a web application which I augment with iOS native utilities such as Speech to Text and IAP. The application also uses Service workers, so we define AppBound Domains in the info.plist file. Everything works for this, but when we deploy on a device the application will crash and say we need these entitlements com.apple.developer.web-browser-engine.networking, com.apple.developer.web-browser-engine.rendering, com.apple.developer.web-browser-engine.webcontent, com.apple.runningboard.assertions.webkit From what I can see, we do need all of them. However Apple suggest submitting a request to be an Altnerative Browser (https://aninterestingwebsite.com/support/alternative-browser-engines) This is not appropriate for the application in my view since one requirement of being an alternative browser is that you don't modify the resources on the web site - we of course do since we inject javascript in order to bridge between iOS and the contents of the webview. How are people navigating this issue? I assumed it would be common given the use of Tauri etc. to build similar types of applications, but I don't see much about it. Thank you!

Environment • OS / Safari: macOS 15.0.1 (Sequoia), Safari 18.x • Distribution: Signed, notarized, stapled PKG installs a host app that contains a Safari App Extension • Management: No MDM allowed (and thus no supervision) • Goal: Have the extension come up enabled immediately after install, without requiring the user to click the checkbox in Safari Settings ▸ Extensions What we already know / tried Normal install flow – After PKG install, the extension shows up disabled. User must check the box to enable. SFSafariApplication.showPreferencesForExtension(...) – We can deep‑link the user to our row, but they still need to click “Enable.” Accessibility/UI scripting – We can script the click if the user grants our helper Accessibility permission. That still involves user interaction. .mobileconfig with Safari Extensions Management (AlwaysOn) – From what I can tell, this requires a supervised device enrolled in MDM. Installing that profile manually on an unsupervised Mac does not enforce the “AlwaysOn” state. Auth rights / Developer mode – Looked at auth.db rights like com.apple.Safari.allow-unsigned-app-extensions, and the Develop menu “Allow Unsigned Extensions.” Neither appears to auto‑enable a signed extension, and we don’t want to use private/unsupported APIs anyway. I am maintaining a PWA that utilizes WebSockets. In this app, after the web page is loaded from the server, JavaScript establishes a WebSocket connection. Because the app connects to a completely local server on a managed local network, we use http:// and ws:// (non-secure). The Issue: The app worked perfectly from older iOS versions up to iPadOS 18. However, during testing on iPadOS 26, we encountered an issue where the WebSocket connects successfully but is disconnected by the iPad approximately one second later. According to our packet captures, the iPad is sending a FIN packet to initiate the teardown. Additional Context: What makes this particularly confusing is that we have another server hosting the exact same PWA where the WebSocket connection stays stable even on iPadOS 26. I understand that you want echoCancellation and noiseSuppression in most cases, but I would like to be able to turn off all the filter processes for this particular use case. When I set echoCancellation: false in navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia, Safari 26 on MacOS produces stereo recording even if I set channelCount: 1. When I set echoCancellation: true, it produces mono recording as expected. How can I get mono recording with echoCancellation: false and channelCount: 1? Thanks!

We confirmed a problem at Safari on iPadOS 18.2 or after version. For confirmation, we made a HTML document (see below HTML1) what include ‘method="POST" target="_blank"’ and tested the form however server received GET method and there is no parameter, server did not receive “id” parameter. We confirmed that fact in captured packet and log file that on the server. HTML1: We also made another HTML document (see below HTML2) what include submit button, but the server received GET method as above. HTML2: And we also confirmed that it behaves differently depending on the network environment. If the form targets a name that does not exist (ex. target=” A12345”), behaves differently http or https. http: Safari opened new tag, but the server received GET method. Normally, Safari open new tag and the server receive POST method. https: Safari opened new tag, and the server received POST method. It is normally. If the form targets ‘_blank’, the server received GET method on http or https both. We think Safari change the method POST to GET and delete parameters. It is not conformed to the HTML specification if is that true. We confirmed it was not happened at Safari on iPadOS 17.4, and Windows PC (Edge, Chrome). The method what the server received is POST. Hi, it seems that with iOS26 the system displays two entries in the screentime report for apps that use a WKWebView: one for the app itself and one for the website that was displayed in the app. We don't see this behaviour in iOS18.7. I'm reseaching how to disable the recording for the webviews in one of our apps (written in Swift with UIKit). The STWebpageController looked promising, especially the field suppressUsageRecording, but the whole class is poorly documented. We initialized it with the bundle identifier of the app and set the url of the wkwebview as the url in STWebpageController. Each list item uses the array index as the React key and consists of two parts: a header section that uses position: sticky for dynamic sticking behavior, and a body section whose height is automatically adjusted based on its content. I am developing an SSO Extension so that I can have SSO with Keycloak across applications. OIDC/OAuth2 works very well. But I am struggling with SAML. It works, but it seems that the form submission is always triggered twice. I use decisionHandler(.cancel) to stop the form submission and redirect it to the browser. I still get the form submitted both by the extension and by the browser. At some point I tried to allow the form submission in the Extension so that I get the redirect with the response to the browser. It still triggered another submission. Does anyone experience this issue?

After reading several posts I see that I need to add the "com.apple.developer.web-browser.public-key-credential" capability to my macOS app in order to get it to work. So my noob question is where do I request this capability? Can I as a developer request it or does the Account owner need to request it? Once approved, how do I add it to my app's capabilities? We’re encountering an issue when trying to add non-standard headers to outgoing requests using Declarative Net Request (DNR) rules in our Safari Web Extension. Tested on macOS 15.4 with Safari 18.4. Specifically, when attempting to add a custom header such as "X-Custom-Header" using a DNR rule, the header does not appear in the request. We are able to add standard headers like "Authorization" and "Cookie" to the request successfully using the same method. This behavior suggests that Safari may be filtering or blocking non-standard headers when set via DNR rules, unlike other browsers. In Chrome and Firefox, the same rule adds the "X-Custom-Header" header without any issue. We are looking for assistance in fixing these issues and having our Safari Extension function the same as it does in Firefox and Chrome.
