Apple Music API High Error Rate
I am getting high error rates from the Apple Music API. This has been happening for months now, and it is quite frustrating. It is a mix of 404, 504, and random 500 errors. I hit these endpoints all of the time, so it is not like I am hitting a resource that doesn't exist. Why is this happening? Is this a known issue that is getting worked on?

How to request for Video Subscriber SSO entitlement from Apple
Hi All. I'm working on Single-Sign-On feature in my application to let customers sign into their TV Provider. I need to add Video Subscriber SSO entitlement (com.apple.developer.video-subscriber-single-sign-on) to the app, but I found out that it's a special entitlement, need to contact Apple to enable it for my Apple account. On https://aninterestingwebsite.com/account I navigated to Support -> Contact Us -> Development and Technical -> Entitlements and ask in the email about missing entitlement (ticket ID 102478794279). The support team couldn't help me, they redirected me to the operations team. I've been waiting for a few months now but they inform me to keep waiting. Is there a better way to contact Apple and get Video Subscriber SSO entitlement in an efficient way?

iPhone 17 smart framing api not working
I tried to modify the AVCam sample code by copying the code here https://aninterestingwebsite.com/documentation/avfoundation/adopting-smart-framing-in-your-camera-app#Configure-the-smart-framing-monitor smart framing monitors I can ensure the activeformat supports smart framing, but the supported frames in monitor is always nil. In my another project it has supported value, but the observation has never been triggered, then I tried to keep printing the recommended frame, it's always nil. Could the engineer embed the code into AVCam rather than posting a few code pieces?

Why a driverkit extension needs a CMIO extension
I developed a driverkit extension based on overriding-the-default-usb-video-class-extension, but the link didn’t give the details of realization. I asked DTS who gave two tips: 1, Do you also have a CMIO extension to load in place of the default overriding-the-default-usb-video-class-extension 2, Your DriverKit extension’s info.plist is also missing the CameraAssistantBundleID. I want to know why a driverkit extension needs a CMIO extension, what’s the data and control flow?

Invalid album IDs in parquet files
I’m spot-checking some of the data I’m extracting from the Apple Music Feed parquet files and finding numerous issues of invalid album IDs. For example, just looking at any album with a primary artist id of 163043, I see a few albums that are not available at music.apple.com/us/album/NNN. These include: 981094158 - Time and the River 1803443737 - Celebration (Live New York ’80) 1525426873 - Anything You Want: The Warner-Reprise-Elektra Years I notice that neither of these album ids are returned using the general Music API, so I’m a bit confused why they would exist in the parquet files at all. Thanks.

How to Get Device Orientation in Background (PiP) Mode?
My app is a camera app that supports Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode. Normally, when the device rotates, I get the device orientation from iOS and use it to rotate the camera feed so that the preview stays correctly aligned. However, when the app enters PiP mode, it is considered to be in the background, and I can no longer receive orientation updates from the system. As a result, I can’t apply rotation corrections to the camera video in PiP mode. Is there any way to retrieve device orientation while the app is in the background (specifically during PiP mode)? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

AVAudioSession automatically sets the tablet audio volume to 50% when recording audio.
Environment→ ・Device: iPad 10th generation ・OS:**iOS18.3.2 I'm using AVAudioSession to record sound in my application. But I recently came to realize that when the app starts a recording session on a tablet, OS automatically sets the tablet volume to 50% and when after recording ends, it doesn't change back to the previous volume level before starting the recording. So I would like to know whether this is an OS default behavior or a bug? If it's a default behavior, I much appreciate if I can get a link to the documentation.

Can I Fade Out Track Volume Before End Using ApplicationMusicPlayer?
I’m building a music app using Apple Music streaming via ApplicationMusicPlayer. My goal is to decrease the volume of the current song during the last 10 seconds, and when the next track begins, restore the volume to its normal level. I know that ApplicationMusicPlayer doesn’t expose a volume API, and I want to avoid triggering the system volume HUD. ✅ Using Apple Music streaming (not local files) ❓ Is it possible to implement per-track fade-out/fade-in logic with ApplicationMusicPlayer? Appreciate any clarification or official guidance!

PHFetchOptions.includeHiddenAssets does not correctly return asset by id
When attempting to access a PHAsset that is in the hidden folder of iOS26, the PHFetchResult always returns no items, even when the user has granted full access to photos and even when includeHiddenAssets is true. This is the code suggested by ChatGPT; it always fails: public func fetchAsset(withLocalIdentifier identifier: String) -> PSSPHAssetImplementing? { // First try the direct fetch by identifier (fast path) let directResult = PHAsset.fetchAssets(withLocalIdentifiers: [identifier], options: nil) if let asset = directResult.firstObject { return build(from: asset) } // Fallback: fetch all assets including hidden, then filter manually let options = PHFetchOptions() options.includeHiddenAssets = true let allAssets = PHAsset.fetchAssets(with: options) for index in 0..<allAssets.count { let asset = allAssets.object(at: index) if asset.localIdentifier == identifier { return build(from: asset) } } return nil } Is it no longer possible to retrieve a hidden photo in iOS 26?

How to capture audio from the stream that's playing on the speakers?
Good day, ladies and gents. I have an application that reads audio from the microphone. I'd like it to also be able to read from the Mac's audio output stream. (A bonus would be if it could detect when the Mac is playing music.) I'd eventually be able to figure it out reading docs, but if someone can give a hint, I'd be very grateful, and would owe you the libation of your choice. Here's the code used to set up the AudioUnit: -(NSString*) configureAU { AudioComponent component = NULL; AudioComponentDescription description; OSStatus err = noErr; UInt32 param; AURenderCallbackStruct callback; description.componentManufacturer = kAudioUnitManufacturer_Apple; description.componentFlags = 0; description.componentFlagsMask = 0; if( component = AudioComponentFindNext( NULL, &description ) ) { err = AudioComponentInstanceNew( component, &audioUnit ); if( err != noErr ) { audioUnit = NULL; return [ NSString stringWithFormat: @"Couldn't open AudioUnit component (ID=%d)", err] ; } } // Configure the AudioOutputUnit: // You must enable the Audio Unit (AUHAL) for input and output for the same device. // When using AudioUnitSetProperty the 4th parameter in the method refers to an AudioUnitElement. // When using an AudioOutputUnit for input the element will be '1' and the output element will be '0'. param = 1; if( audioBuffer == NULL ) { [ self cleanUp ]; return [NSString stringWithFormat: @"Could not allocate buffers for recording (ID=%d)", err]; } return nil; } (...again, it would be nice to know if audio output is active and thereby choose the clean output stream over the noisy mic, but that would be a different chunk of code, and my main question may just be a quick edit to this chunk.) Thanks for your attention! ==Dave [p.s. if i get more than one useful answer, can i "Accept" more than one, to spread the credit around?] {pps: of course, the code lines up prettier in a monospaced font!}

Why does AVAudioRecorder show 8 kHz when iPhone hardware is 48 kHz?
Hi everyone, I’m testing audio recording on an iPhone 15 Plus using AVFoundation. Here’s a simplified version of my setup: let settings: [String: Any] = [ AVFormatIDKey: Int(kAudioFormatLinearPCM), AVSampleRateKey: 8000, AVNumberOfChannelsKey: 1, AVLinearPCMBitDepthKey: 16, AVLinearPCMIsFloatKey: false ] audioRecorder = try AVAudioRecorder(url: fileURL, settings: settings) audioRecorder?.record() When I check the recorded file’s sample rate, it logs: Actual sample rate: 8000.0 However, when I inspect the hardware sample rate: try session.setCategory(.playAndRecord, mode: .default) try session.setActive(true) print("Hardware sample rate:", session.sampleRate) I consistently get: `Hardware sample rate: 48000.0 My questions are: Is the iPhone mic actually capturing at 8 kHz, or is it recording at 48 kHz and then downsampling to 8 kHz internally? Is there any way to force the hardware to record natively at 8 kHz? If not, what’s the recommended approach for telephony-quality audio (true 8 kHz) on iOS devices? Thanks in advance for your guidance!

Capturing multiple screens no longer works with macOS Sequoia
Capturing more than one display is no longer working with macOS Sequoia. We have a product that allows users to capture up to 2 displays/screens. Our application is using gstreamer which in turn is based on AVFoundation. I found a quick way to replicate the issue by just running 2 captures from separate terminals. Assuming display 1 has device index 0, and display 2 has device index 1, here are the steps: install gstreamer with brew install gstreamer Then open 2 terminal windows and launch the following processes: terminal 1 (device-index:0): gst-launch-1.0 avfvideosrc -e device-index=0 capture-screen=true ! queue ! videoscale ! video/x-raw,width=640,height=360 ! videoconvert ! osxvideosink terminal 2 (device-index:1): gst-launch-1.0 avfvideosrc -e device-index=1 capture-screen=true ! queue ! videoscale ! video/x-raw,width=640,height=360 ! videoconvert ! osxvideosink The first process that is launched will show the screen, the second process launched will not. Testing this on macOS Ventura and Sonoma works as expected, showing both screens. I submitted the same issue on Feedback Assistant: FB15900976

currentPlaybackPitch or preservesPitch parameter
Hi Apple Music API / MusicKit / MediaPlayer Team, Similar to the currentPlaybackRate keeps the same pitch, it would be great to have a currentPlaybackPitch parameter as well. Alternatively, adding a preservesPitch parameter would also work. I see that iOS 26 AutoMix on Apple Music currently does pitch shifting during music transitions, so maybe this is something that could be exposed on the later betas of iOS 26? Main feature request we get is to have simple pitch changes to Apple Music we play through our app. Is this being considered?

How to get PID from AudioObjectID on macOS pre Sonoma
3 I am working on an application to get when input audio device is being used. Basically I want to know the application using the microphone (built-in or external) This app runs on macOS. For Mac versions starting from Sonoma I can use this code: int getAudioProcessPID(AudioObjectID process) { pid_t pid; if (@available(macOS 14.0, *)) { constexpr AudioObjectPropertyAddress prop { kAudioProcessPropertyPID, kAudioObjectPropertyScopeGlobal, kAudioObjectPropertyElementMain }; UInt32 dataSize = sizeof(pid); OSStatus error = AudioObjectGetPropertyData(process, &prop, 0, nullptr, &dataSize, &pid); if (error != noErr) { return -1; } } else { // Pre sonoma code goes here } return pid; } which works. However, kAudioProcessPropertyPID was added in macOS SDK 14.0. Does anyone know how to achieve the same functionality on previous versions?

chkerr("Could not change the stream format of the output device (ID=%d)"); param = sizeof(UInt32); // Get the number of frames in the IO buffer(s) err = AudioUnitGetProperty( audioUnit, kAudioDevicePropertyBufferFrameSize, kAudioUnitScope_Global, 0, &audioSamples, &param ); if( audioBuffer == NULL ) { [ self cleanUp ]; return [NSString stringWithFormat: @"Could not allocate buffers for recording (ID=%d)", err]; } return nil; } (...again, it would be nice to know if audio output is active and thereby choose the clean output stream over the noisy mic, but that would be a different chunk of code, and my main question may just be a quick edit to this chunk.) Thanks for your attention! ==Dave [p.s. if i get more than one useful answer, can i "Accept" more than one, to spread the credit around?] {pps: of course, the code lines up prettier in a monospaced font!}

Using non-local custom catalogues with Shazamkit
Hi, I'm trying to plan out development of an app and am wondering if it is possible to have user generated content automatically populate into a custom shazamkit catalogue and be able to query this catalogue non-locally? Storing all the submissions locally would obviously not scale.
