DockKit gimbal reported yaw drifts by upwards of 45 degrees after running for a while
This is an issue with the Insta360 Flow Pro 2. My iOS app uses DockKit to control the gimbal; in particular, my app disables tracking and sends angular velocity commands to control the gimbal's orientation. I only try to modify the yaw (rotation around the vertical axis); never the pitch or yaw. Note that I don't send the gimbal to a particular orientation directly; I modify the velocity. Everything works great for a long period of time: typically for a continuous run of 4-6 hours; in the most recent case, I managed about 36 hours of continous operation before the following problem occurred. I came back to check on the system, and because no visual activity had occurred in the camera's field of view for a while, the phone had commanded the gimbal to rotate back to a yaw angle of 0 degrees. So the phone in the gimbal should have been looking straight ahead (i.e. the 0 degree yaw position), but it was definitely looking off at an angle. I've seen this twice now. The first time, when it should have been looking straight ahead, it was in fact looking 60 degrees off center. This time (caught on video, see below), it was off by 22 degrees from center. Here's the weird part: the gimbal reports this way off center positioning as zero degrees (well close enough to zero, like 0.2 or something that's fine). But, mechanically, the gimbal still knows where zero degrees is: if we double click on the trigger of the Flow Pro 2, which is supposed to reset the gimbal to 0 degrees yaw and pitch, the gimbal responds correctly and reorients to a 0 degree position. However, the yaw values it reports are not zero, but as shown in my video, 22 degrees off axis or so. Power cycling the gimbal and restarting immediately fixes the problem. Also, I switched from my app to the Insta360 app, which caused the phone to flip from landscape to portrait, then when I returned to my app and switched back to landscape, the gimbal now started reporting correct yaw angles. Is there a possibility this is a bug in the DockKit framework? Has anyone seen this? I have a case open with Insta360, but although it's clearly a software issue, it's not clear if it's in Insta360's code or the DockKit layer. Any ideas for how I can get out of this mode? My concern is that the phone is in a tripod about 10' off the floor, and not very accessible. Also, if all goes well, we may have about 50 of these systems running, and having to fix them one by one after a few hours is not good. For a demonstration of this bug, see the following video: https://octoparry.com/offset.MOV Any help greatly appreciated.

Moving photos to a shared library programmatically
Hello everyone, I am looking for a solution to programmatically, e.g. using AppleScript to import photos into the Photos library on MacOS and also push them to the shared library, like it can be done using the standard GUI of the Photos application. Maybe it is not possible using AppleScript, but using a short Swift script and PhotoKit, I do not not know. Any help is appreciated! Thomas

Playback Issues for DRM content when sending CMCD
Since iOS and tvOS 18, CMCD can now be automatically sent by AVPlayer (https://aninterestingwebsite.com/streaming/Whats-new-HLS.pdf). However, after enabling CMCD, our streams occasionally fail with the following error: CoreMediaErrorDomain Error -17383 This issue appears to affect only DRM-protected (FairPlay) streams so far. We activate CMCD via the resource loader of an AVURLAsset, before assigning the item to an AVPlayer. Unfortunately, we haven’t found a reliable way to reproduce the issue, and we’ve been unable to gather any useful diagnostic information. Has anyone else observed this behavior when enabling CMCD on FairPlay streams?

Airplay selection not working
I'm trying to implement airplay into my app. I can successfully playback sound and trigger the airplay selector sheet. If the target device is a Bluetooth only device I can connect with no problem and stream the audio to the Bluetooth device, but if the audio device is a airplay specific device like a HomePod or an Apple TV when I select it, I get a spinning icon, indicating that it is trying to connect, and eventually it times out and stops without connecting. I don't believe it is an AirPlay audio issue because if I go to a different app, for example a podcast app and select my HomePods for output, and then switch back to my app. My audio will correctly stream to the HomePod. Not only that, I have it so that my icon will change color to indicate that it is connected via airplay and it is correctly indicating that it is connected via AirPlay. But I cannot then disconnect it using the Airplay selector. The issue appears to be in the AirPlay selection side, which I have spent several days attempting to troubleshoot mostly using ChatGPT to suggest code different than what I have to maybe work around the issue. Mostly it is focused on the audio player section, but it doesn't seem like that is really the route that is the problem.

When getting the PHPickerResult from user selecting media in the Photos app, how to check file extension?
when I get results from picker: PHPickerViewController, didFinishPicking results: [PHPickerResult]) and I load the image using itemProvider .loadFileRepresentation (the itemProvider is the NSItemProvider provided by the PHPickerResult) will the url that's returned by this method be guaranteed to have the file extension ie, "file://image.jpeg" not "file://image" I want to know if i need to just check the extension to know its file type. (FYI in case this makes a difference, im only interested in user screenshots and screenrecordings)

Dockkit custom tracking does not work on iOS18.3
Hi all, I'm using Apple Sample Code below to create application using dockkit. "Controlling a DockKit accessory using your camera app" https://aninterestingwebsite.com/documentation/dockkit/controlling-a-dockkit-accessory-using-your-camera-app?changes=_8 I used vision hand recognition and put the observation data to dockAccessory.track, but Belkin or Insta360 devices never move on iPhone 16 Pro Max with iOS 18.3. If I use other functions like face search (system tracking) in the app, those work ok. I used Belkin and Insta360 Flow 2 Pro to reproduce the problem. My friend is also saying that the custom tracking feature was working fine on the OS 18 beta, but on recent iOS 18.3 that feature does not work. If I can get the iOS 18.0 beta then we can test that feature. But I cannot revert my iOS from 18.3 to the iOS 18.0 Beta. Regards, TO

Coverting CVPixelBuffer 2VUY to a Metal Texture
I am working on a project for macOS where I am taking an AVCaptureSession's CVPixelBuffer and I need to convert it into a MTLTexture for rendering. On macOS the pixel format is 2vuy, there does not seem to be a clear format conversion while converting to a metal texture. I have been able to convert it to a texture but the color space seems to be off as it is rendering distorted colors with a double image. I believe 2vuy is a single pane color space and I have tried to account for that, but I am unaware of what is off. I have attached The CVPixelBuffer and The distorted MTLTexture along with a laundry list of errors. On iOS my conversions are fine, it is only the macOS 2vuy pixel format that seems to have issues. My code for the conversion is also attached. If there are any suggestions or guidance on how to properly convert a 2vuy CVPixelBuffer to a MTLTexture I would greatly appreciate it. Many Thanks Conversion_Logs.txt ConversionCode.swift

Images with unusual color spaces not correctly loaded by Core Image
Some users reported that their images are not loading correctly in our app. After a lot of debugging we identified the following: This only happens when the app is build for Mac Catalyst. Not on iOS, iPadOS, or “real” macOS (AppKit). The images in question have unusual color spaces. We observed the issue for uRGB and eciRGB v2. Those images are rendered correctly in Photos and Preview on all platforms. When displaying the image inside of a UIImageView or in a SwiftUI Image, they render correctly. The issue only occurs when loading the image via Core Image. When comparing the different Core Image render graphs between AppKit (working) and Catalyst (faulty) builds, they look identical—except for the result. Mac (AppKit): Catalyst: Something seems to be off when Core Image tries to load an image with foreign color space in Catalyst. We identified a workaround: By using a CGImageDestination to transcode the image using the kCGImageDestinationOptimizeColorForSharing option, Image I/O will convert the image to sRGB (or similar) and Core Image is able to load the image correctly. However, one potentially loses fidelity this way. Or might there be a better workaround?

AirPlay v1 is broken in iOS 18.4?
After upgrading to iOS 18.4, I'm no longer able to establish an AirPlay v1 connection to an audio system. The symptom is that the AirPlay route picker just spins when trying to connect to an audio system. It eventually gives up. I tested this on an iPhone 14, connecting to a HomePod, AirPort express, AppleTV and a Wiim Pro. If I try connecting with AirPlay v2, ex: using Apple Music, the connection succeeds and audio can be played. I'm the developer of an app that plays audio over AirPlay while also recording. My app has to use AirPlay v1 because AvAudioSession doesn't allow the policy .longFormAudio when the category is .playAndRecord. This issue is a real pain as it means my app is suddenly broken for many thousands of users. Is anyone else seeing this issue? Any suggestions for a workaround?

Users experiencing frequent media services reset interruptions
I work on an iOS app that records video and audio. We've been getting reports for a while from users who are experiencing their video recordings being cut off. After investigating, I found that many users are receiving the AVAudioSessionMediaServicesWereResetNotification (.mediaServicesWereResetNotification) notification while recording. It's associated with the AVFoundationErrorDomain[-11819] error, which seems to indicate that the system audio daemon crashed. We have a handler registered to end the recording, show the user a prompt, and restart our AV sessions. However, from our logs this looks to be happening to hundreds of users every day and it's not an ideal user experience, so I would like to figure out why this is happening and if it's due to something that we're doing wrong. The debug menu option to trigger the audio session reset is not of much use, because it can't be triggered unless you leave the app and go to system settings. So our app can't be recording video when the debug reset is triggered. So far I haven't found a way to reproduced the issue locally, but I can see that it's happening to users from logs. I've found some posts online from developers experiencing similar issues, but none of them seem to directly address our issue. The system error doesn't include a userInfo dictionary, and as far as I can tell it's a system daemon crash so any logs would need to be captured from the OS. Is there any way that I could get more information about what may be causing this error that I may have missed?

AVFoundationErrorDomain Code=-11819 in AVPlayer – Causes & Fixes?
We are encountering an issue where AVPlayer throws the error: Error Domain=AVFoundationErrorDomain Code=-11819 "Cannot Complete Action" > Underlying Error Domain[(null)]:Code[0]:Desc[(null)] This error seems to occur intermittently during video playback, especially after extended usage or when switching between different streams. We observe Error 11819 (AVFoundationErrorDomain) in Conviva platform that some of our users experience it but we couldn't reproduce it so far and we’re need support to determine the root cause and/or best practices to prevent it. Are there any recommended ways to handle or recover from this error gracefully? Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

CheckError.swift:CheckError(_:):211:kAudioUnitErr_InvalidParameter (CheckError.swift:CheckError(_:):211)
I'm getting this error when I launch my application on the iPhone 14 Pro via Xcode. Everything builds OK. I"m using the audio kit plugin and Sound Pipe Audiokit. The error starts as soon as I start the app and will carry on repeatedly. I have background processing turned on as I'd like the sounds to play when the phone is locked via the headphones. I can't find anything online about this error. None of my catches are printing anything in the logs either. So I don't know if this is just something that pops up repeatedly or whether there is something fundamentally wrong. private func setupAudioSession() { do { let session = AVAudioSession.sharedInstance() try session.setCategory(.playback, mode: .default, options: [.mixWithOthers]) try session.setActive(true, options: .notifyOthersOnDeactivation) } catch { errorMessage = "Failed to set up audio session: (error.localizedDescription)" print(errorMessage ?? "") } } // MARK: - Background Task Handling private func setupBackgroundTaskHandling() { // Handle app entering background notificationObservers.append( NotificationCenter.default.addObserver( forName: UIApplication.didEnterBackgroundNotification, object: nil, queue: .main, using: { [weak self] _ in // Safely unwrap self guard let self = self else { return } self.handleBackgroundTransition() } ) ) I'm not sure if this is the code causing the issue. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. This is my first app I'm working on .

How to disable the built-in speakers and microphone on a Mac
I need to implement a solution through an API or custom driver to completely block out the built-in speakers and microphone of Mac, because I need other apps to use specified external devices as audio input and output. Is there a way to achieve this requirement? What I mean is that even in system preferences, it should not be possible to choose the built-in microphone and speakers; only my external device can be used.

Issue with Audio Sample Rate Conversion in Video Calls
Hey everyone, I'm encountering an issue with audio sample rate conversion that I'm hoping someone can help with. Here's the breakdown: Issue Description: I've installed a tap on an input device to convert audio to an optimal sample rate. There's a converter node added on top of this setup. The problem arises when joining Zoom or FaceTime calls—the converter gets deallocated from memory, causing the program to crash. Symptoms: The converter node is being deallocated during video calls. The program crashes entirely when this happens. Traditional methods of monitoring sample rate changes (tracking nominal or actual sample rates) aren't working as expected. The Big Challenge: I can't figure out how to properly monitor sample rate changes. Listeners set up to track these changes don't trigger when the device joins a Zoom or FaceTime call. Please, if anyone has experience with this or knows a solution, I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance!

MusicKit for Android reports an error when playing stations
When I use musicKit SDK for Android 1.1.2, I found that MediaContainerType only defines three types: NONE = 0; ALBUM = 1; PLAYLIST = 2; The RADIO_STATION type is not defined. However, the documentation of com.apple.android.music.playback.model states that the RADIO_STATION type is supported. This problem causes an error after I pass in the stations ID: MediaSessionManager com.apple.android.music.sdk.testapp D onPlaybackError() Quincy java.io.IOException May I ask how to solve this problem?

Assistance Needed: CoreMediaErrorDomain Error -12971
Hello Apple Developer Community, I am trying to play an HLS stream using the React Native Video player (underneath it's using AvPlayer). I am able to play the stream smoothly, but in some cases the player can not play the stream properly. Behaviour: react-native-video: I am getting the below error. Error details from react-native-video player: Error Code: -12971 Domain: CoreMediaErrorDomain Localised Description: The operation couldn’t be completed. (CoreMediaErrorDomain error -12971.) Target: 2457 The error does not provide a specific failure reason or recovery suggestion, which makes troubleshooting challenging. AvPlayer on native iOS project: Video playback stopped after playing a few seconds. AVPlayer configuration: player.currentItem?.preferredForwardBufferDuration = 1 player.automaticallyWaitsToMinimizeStalling = true N.B.: The same buffer duration is working perfectly for others. Stream properties: video resolution: 1280 x 720 I have attached an overview report generated from MediaStreamValidator. I would appreciate any insights or suggestions on how to address this error. Has anyone in the community experienced a similar issue or have any advice on potential solutions? Thank you for your help!

AVAudioSession automatically sets the tablet audio volume to 50% when recording audio.
Environment→ ・Device: iPad 10th generation ・OS:**iOS18.3.2 I'm using AVAudioSession to record sound in my application. But I recently came to realize that when the app starts a recording session on a tablet, OS automatically sets the tablet volume to 50% and when after recording ends, it doesn't change back to the previous volume level before starting the recording. So I would like to know whether this is an OS default behavior or a bug? If it's a default behavior, I much appreciate if I can get a link to the documentation.

Clarification of use of `AVAssetDownloadConfiguration` and `AVAssetDownloadTask` to persist MP3 Audio downloads/streams
Hello! I have been following the UsingAVFoundationToPlayAndPersistHTTPLiveStreams sample code in order to test persisting streams to disk. In addition to support for m3u8, I have noticed in testing that this also seems to work for MP3 Audio, simply by changing the plist entries to point to remote URLs with audio/mpeg content. Is this expected, or are there caveats that I should be aware of? Thanks you!

Users experiencing frequent media services reset interruptions

MusicKit for Android reports an error when playing stations
我在使用 musicKit SDK for Android 1.1.2 时,发现 MediaContainerType 只定义了三种类型: 无 = 0; 专辑 = 1; 播放列表 = 2; 未定义 RADIO_STATION 类型。 但是,com.apple.android.music.playback.model 的文档指出支持 RADIO_STATION 类型。 此问题在我传入 stations ID 后会导致错误: MediaSessionManager com.apple.android.music.sdk.testapp D onPlaybackError() Quincy java.io.IOException 请问如何解决这个问题?

Thanks you!
