Xcode JSONDecoder playground fails with 'The LLDB RPC server has crashed.
If I create a playground project that uses a JSONDecoder I get the following error. The LLDB RPC Server has crashed. The crash log is located at ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports and has a prefix 'lldb-rpc-server'. Please file a bug and attach the most recent crash log. I have raised feedback for this, FB17702087, but I hope that there may be a workaround. The code I am using to try and get this to work is from The Apple Developer Documentation - JSON Decoder var greeting = "JSON Test 3" struct GroceryProduct: Codable { var name: String var points: Int var description: String? } let json = """ { "name": "Durian", "points": 600, "description": "A fruit with a distinctive scent." } """.data(using: .utf8)! let decoder = JSONDecoder() let product = try decoder.decode(GroceryProduct.self, from: json) print(product.name) // Prints "Durian" A screenshot of the playground showing the error The crash log (the file type has been changed to txt as ips file types cannot be selected for upload. lldb-rpc-server-2025-05-28-140832.txt

ISO 14443-4 Reading issue
I am working with a Texas Instruments RF430 NFC tag, which is compliant with: ISO/IEC 14443-4 (ISO-DEP) NFC Forum Type 4 Tag NFC-B protocol NDEF-formatted storage I’m using an iPhone 12 running iOS 18, and my app uses the Core NFC framework. Using NFCNDEFReaderSessionDelegate, I am able to successfully read the first NDEF message from the tag. However, the tag stores multiple NDEF messages, and I would like to access the others. Based on the tag’s specification, these messages are accessible via an NDEF file located at file ID 0xE104. To try and access this additional NDEF file, I attempted to use NFCTagReaderSession with the NFCTagReaderSessionDelegate, intending to issue APDU commands. However, the tagReaderSession(_:didDetect:) delegate method is never called, even though the tag is present and detected using NFCNDEFReaderSession. My questions: Does Core NFC on iOS 18 support issuing custom APDU commands to ISO 14443-4 (NFC-B) tags like the TI RF430? Is the use of NFCTagReaderSession with NFC-B fully supported for tags that implement ISO-DEP (even if they are NDEF-formatted)? Is there any known limitation or configuration required to ensure tagReaderSession(_:didDetect:) is triggered for NFC-B/ISO-DEP tags?

Xcode does not see code changes in local Swift packages (autocomplete wrong, errors shown, but still compiles)
Hey, I've been having a lot of problems with Xcode 16 not seeing changes made to code in local Swift packages (the packages are inside the root directory of the project). Whenever I make any change like renaming a variable or type, or adding new methods or whatever, autocomplete doesn't see those changes and when I type in that new type/variable manually it gives me an error. However, building the project still works fine, even with the errors never going away. The only way for it to notice the code changes is to clean the project and build it again which takes a long time. At first, I thought this was connected to the new "Explicitly built modules" feature in Xcode 16, but I turned it off and it still happens. Any ideas what I can try? I'm on the latest Xcode version, but this problem has been happening since Xcode 16 originally came out. Thanks! Dennis

Unable to Install Provisioning profile
Hi, I'm unable to install provisioning profile on my iPad and I know the xcode component iOS/iPadOs version and iPadOS version should be same or below the latest compared to xcode components. Now the issue is xcode component version is iOS 18.4 (22E235) SDK + iOS 18.4 (22E238) Simulator (Installed) and iPadOS version is iOS 18.4.1(22E252) could this be cause of issue ? If yes then when will apple release components for 18.4.1? Because iOS 18.4.1 release at least 3-4 weeks before this post.

SWIFTUI LAYERING ISSUE: BACKGROUND ALWAYS APPEARS IN FRONT OF CONTENT
SWIFTUI LAYERING ISSUE: BACKGROUND ALWAYS APPEARS IN FRONT OF CONTENT THE PROBLEM I'm facing a frustrating issue in my SwiftUI macOS app where a background RoundedRectangle is consistently displaying in front of my content instead of behind it. This isn't an intermittent issue - it never works correctly. The colored background is always rendering on top of the text and icons, making the content completely unreadable. Here's my current implementation: private func sceneRow(for scene: Scene, index: Int) -> some View { ZStack(alignment: .leading) { // Hidden text to force view updates when state changes Text("$$noteStateTracker)") .frame(width: 0, height: 0) .opacity(0) // 1. Background rectangle explicitly at the bottom layer RoundedRectangle(cornerRadius: 6) .fill(sceneBackgroundColor(for: scene)) .padding(.horizontal, 4) // 2. Content explicitly on top HStack { Image(systemName: "line.3.horizontal") .foregroundColor(.blue) .frame(width: 20) Text("$$index). $$truncateTitle(scene.title.isEmpty ? "Untitled Scene" : scene.title))") .foregroundColor(selectedScene?.id == scene.id ? .blue : .primary) .fontWeight(selectedScene?.id == scene.id ? .bold : .regular) Spacer() if scene.isComplete { Image(systemName: "checkmark.circle.fill") .foregroundColor(.green) .font(.system(size: 12)) .padding(.trailing, 8) } } .padding(.vertical, 4) .padding(.leading, 30) } .contentShape(Rectangle()) .onTapGesture { selectedChapter = chapter selectedScene = scene } .onDrag { NSItemProvider(object: "$$scene.id.uuidString)|scene" as NSString) } .onDrop(of: ["public.text"], isTargeted: Binding( get: { hoveredSceneID == scene.id }, set: { isTargeted in hoveredSceneID = isTargeted ? scene.id : nil } )) { providers in handleSceneDrop(providers, scene, chapter) } .contextMenu { Button("Rename Scene") { sceneToRename = scene newSceneTitleForRename = scene.title newSceneDescriptionForRename = scene.description isRenamingScene = true } Button(role: .destructive) { confirmDeleteScene(scene, chapter) } label: { Label("Delete Scene", systemImage: "trash") } } } Despite explicitly ordering elements in the ZStack with the background first (which should place it at the bottom of the stack), the RoundedRectangle always renders on top of the text and icons. WHAT I'VE TRIED I've attempted multiple approaches but nothing works: ZStack with explicit zIndex values ZStack { RoundedRectangle(cornerRadius: 6) .fill(sceneBackgroundColor(for: scene)) .padding(.horizontal, 4) .zIndex(1) HStack { /* content */ } .padding(.vertical, 4) .padding(.leading, 30) .zIndex(2) } No effect - background still appears on top. Using .background() modifier instead of ZStack HStack { /* content */ } .padding(.vertical, 4) .padding(.leading, 30) .background( RoundedRectangle(cornerRadius: 6) .fill(sceneBackgroundColor(for: scene)) .padding(.horizontal, 4) ) Same issue - the background still renders in front of the content. Custom container view with GeometryReader struct SceneRowContainer: View { var background: Background var content: Content init(@ViewBuilder background: @escaping () -> Background, @ViewBuilder content: @escaping () -> Content) { self.background = background() self.content = content() } var body: some View { GeometryReader { geometry in // Background rendered first background .frame(width: geometry.size.width, height: geometry.size.height) .position(x: geometry.size.width/2, y: geometry.size.height/2) // Content rendered second content .frame(width: geometry.size.width, height: geometry.size.height) .position(x: geometry.size.width/2, y: geometry.size.height/2) } } } This changed the sizing of the components but didn't fix the layering issue. NSViewRepresentable approach I tried implementing a custom NSViewRepresentable that manually manages the view hierarchy: struct LayerOrderView: NSViewRepresentable { let background: () -> Background let content: () -> Content func makeNSView(context: Context) -> NSView { let containerView = NSView() // Add background hosting view first (should be behind) let backgroundView = NSHostingView(rootView: background()) containerView.addSubview(backgroundView) // Add content hosting view second (should be in front) let contentView = NSHostingView(rootView: content()) containerView.addSubview(contentView) // Setup constraints... return containerView } func updateNSView(_ nsView: NSView, context: Context) { // Update views... } } Even this direct AppKit approach didn't work correctly. Using .drawingGroup() ZStack { // Background RoundedRectangle(cornerRadius: 6) .fill(sceneBackgroundColor(for: scene)) .padding(.horizontal, 4) // Content HStack { /* content */ } .padding(.vertical, 4) .padding(.leading, 30) } .drawingGroup(opaque: false) Still no success - the background remains in front. PROJECT CONTEXT macOS app using SwiftUI Scene contents need to be displayed on top of colored backgrounds The view uses state tracking with a noteStateTracker UUID that updates when certain changes occur App needs to maintain gesture recognition for taps, drag and drop, and context menus The issue is completely reproducible 100% of the time - the background is always in front WHAT I WANT TO ACHIEVE I need a reliable solution to ensure that the background color (RoundedRectangle) renders behind the HStack content. The current behavior makes the text content completely unreadable since it's hidden behind the colored background. Has anyone found a workable solution for this seemingly basic layering problem in SwiftUI on macOS? Thank you for any help, Benjamin

Network Instability in TestFlight Builds When Using Xcode 16+
We are experiencing networking issues in our iOS application when it is built with Xcode 16 or later. Our app includes a video conferencing feature that works reliably when built with Xcode 15 or earlier — we can sustain hour-long video sessions without interruption. However, when the app is built using Xcode 16 or higher, network connections drop after 2–3 minutes during a session. This triggers an auto-reconnect, which succeeds, but the connection drops again after another 2–3 minutes. This loop continues indefinitely. Key Details: The issue only occurs in TestFlight builds. When running the app via Xcode debugger, the issue does not occur. The issue is consistently reproducible in TestFlight builds created with Xcode 16 or later. TestFlight builds created with Xcode 15 do not exhibit this issue. All the videoconferencing runs on C and C++ code What We’ve Tried: Reviewed Xcode 16+ release notes but found no relevant changes or deprecations. Verified app configuration and entitlements. Confirmed that no app-side changes occurred between the working and broken builds. Request: We’re seeking guidance on what changes in Xcode 16+ could be affecting networking behavior in release/TestFlight builds. Any insight into relevant build settings, compiler changes, or runtime behavior differences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

xcode 16.3 now not selecting correct Signing Certificate with Automatically Manage Signing Selected
HI, I upgraded to macos 15.5 and xcode 16.3. Last year I was able to update one of my apps on the App Store without issues. Today, after a successful Testflight test, I now need to submit a new version of my app to the App Store for Distribution as the next version/build. However, when I configure a manual setting for the signing, I can select the correct choices. But when I click automatically manage signing, and choose the correct team, xcode put in the wrong signing certificate. It is choose a development one, and not the distribution one. I am concerned about this since I have read that when using the Archive tool, it choses the automatically manage signing by default. And that check box is selecting the "default" settings. I do not know where these default settings are being set, or how to fix this issue. I do not see any info in my searching up to this point. I hope someone can help. thank you, cc

Xcode 16.3 Problems
Hi, This problem had gone away with the previous version, but its back with 16.3. When I first go into Xcode, it normally shows me a list of previous projects. This seems to work some of the time, and not others. When it doesn't, I Quit Xcode, go back in, then the list appears again. I also noticed each time I quit Xcode, I get the "beach ball icon" for 5-7 seconds and then it exits most of the time. When it doesn't, I have to issue a killall Xcode in the Terminal. I have a brand new Mac mini M4, 24GB RAM, 2 TB SSDD. Is anyone else having these issues? Thank you, Dan Uff

Unable to send iMessage game extension on simulator
I recently started building an iMessage game, and whenever I try to send the game through the first contact on the simulator to loop back into the second one, I get an alert saying "Unable to send. The recipient can not receive this item via satellite". Has anyone experienced this? If so, do you have a solution? It is making it a bit difficult to test the flow of my app.

Xcode completion binding not working in 16.2
I'm wondering why 'Select Previous Completion' and 'Select Next Completion' aren't working. I'm using Ctrl-K and Ctrl-J but only my arrow keys work to navigation the completion list. 'Show Completion List' works just fine with Ctrl-Esc. There are no conflicts with any Xcode bindings, and I've checked my system settings for keyboard shortcuts as well.. I've completely disabled copilot, etc.. Is there another setting I'm missing? Or, is this a known issue?

run XCUITest with an SKStoreReviewController
I'm building out a number of XCUITests. At one stage in my app, we present an SKStoreReviewController to ask the user if they'd like to review the app now. All I'd like to do is dismiss the view, by hitting the "Not Now" button. Normally, for other "system" views, I'd something like this: let springboard = XCUIApplication(bundleIdentifier: "com.apple.springboard") let notNowButton = springboard.buttons["Not Now"] And then I'd do an appropriate 'wait' and tap action. But for some reason, this isn't working. Looking for advice on how to properly handle this screen.

dSYMs not generating in Release Build
I have a similar but different problem to another thread. I am using Xcode 16, implementing Firebase Crashlytics. I have the dSYMs working correctly in a Debug build. However when I change to a Release Build the dSYMs do not generate properly. In my archive the XXXapp.debug.dylib file is missing. I verified the debug format with dSYMs, changed Strip settings, compared Debug and Release settings etc without any fix. Any ideas of how to solve this problem?

Why is there virtually nothing in the Editor section for a newly created Xcode project?
I've got several Xcode iOS projects and in the Editor menu section there are dozen's of options, as in the diagram. However if I create a new iOX Project (with Xcode 16.2) look at how sparse the Editor menu is. Why is that, why do they appear for other projects but not for a new one and why are the contents different?

The UT coverage does not include branch coverage for swift
We using below command to run unit test and collect coverage: xcodebuild -workspace Demo.xcworkspace -scheme VideoTests -configuration Debug -derivedDataPath ../build/derivedData -destination 'platform=iOS Simulator,id=E6630007-570B-4DEB-A023-2BCE91116A8D' -resultBundlePath './fastlane/test_output/VideoTests.xcresult' -enableCodeCoverage YES -testPlan 'Video' test-without-building | tee '/Users/rcadmin/Library/Logs/scan/VideoTests.log' | xcbeautify -q --is-ci and using xcrun llvm-cov show command to generate coverage report: xcrun llvm-cov show /build/unit-test/coverage/libraries/merged/video.o -instr-profile=/app/ios/build/derivedData/Build//ProfileData/E6630007-570B-4DEB-A023-2BCE91116A8D/video.profdata -show-branches count -show-expansions -show-line-counts -use-color -format=html -output-dir coverage and the html report does not include branch coverage: how to generate the branch coverage?
